Take Action NOW! Don’t be a spectator of Online Marketing.

This post was most recently updated on June 7th, 2010

Internet Marketing is a streamline of knowledge that is ever changing.  When I am coaching someone, I am mindful of how bewildering all this knowledge can be.  So I set up time-lines for my clients to adhere to. This allows them to get off the analyst’s couch and into the real-time stream of activities that will transform their business from a wish and a hope, into a living and breathing business.

One example might be this.  You want to get a blog started.  You read about it, you take webinars, you ask questions… but you never DO it!

I might offer you this coaching directive.  Go purchase a domain… today! Call me with your new domain name and I will direct you to a designer who can get your blog designed and live over the next few days. We’ll discuss the specific instructions you’ll need to give your designer to obtain exactly the kind of blog design that best fits your purpose.  Within days, you WILL have a blog.  No more wondering about how to do it, or when.  No lame excuses or diversions. THIS week you are going to take the action required to have a live blog.

What Now?        Develop your blog NoW

I know this business can get overwhelming.  That’s why I take you through the process just one step at a time.  You learn one thing in theory.  Next, you take the action required to DO IT!  You set up a blog this week.  Next week you’ll write your first post, then schedule yourself to write one each week.

One of my clients is incredible the way she can assimilate so much information.  She got her blog set up in short order, but just never got around to writing her first blog post.  So all the great information she learned, really got her NOWHERE!  When I asked her why, I received a bunch of lame excuses.  What it got down to was that she was COMFORTABLE doing the technology required to set up a blog.  But she was scared to death to write and offer value.  She had convinced herself she had NO value to offer, and could not write.  I insisted she MUST write something…anything…or just continue wasting her time and money.  When she begrudgingly wrote her first post, it was about something technical and wonderful.  People commented on her blog post how helpful this message was.

So once you’re in the game with your new blog, I might, for example, have you learn the whole concept of social marketing with Twitter.  Once you START to understand the concept, I’ll have you open your Twitter account and begin tweeting… It doesn’t have to be done perfectly, but you must DO IT.  Then, we step back and see what you’ve done right or wrong, and fine-tune your game!

This is how the ACTION process gets you off the bench and into the game of internet marketing.

My friend and mentor Jonathan Budd recently posted the following video.  It’s called “GET IN THE GAME”.   The question he poses is this: are you a bench warmer OR a player in the game?

If you’re tired of warming the bench…Watch Jonathan’s video and I guarantee you’ll be inspired to TAKE ACTION!  Let me know how it works out, and the action you decided to take.

Hi Donna, I enjoyed reading this post. Very inspiring! I admit I’ve been one to wait until I had things “perfect” before taking action. Now I do it anyway (most of the time). Appreciate your insights!

Thanks Jennifer. I used to wait until things were “perfect too, but what is perfect?” lol

    Hello Donna,

There is a say that: “only when we get out of our comfort zone,
then wonderful things will be starting to appear with ourselves.

I can totally agree with what you’re saying here, Donna.

As a person who most of his life lived on the bench watching others playing in the field, nowadays, when I’m totally take active actions, I can see progress in all of what I do.

Good post, Donna. Keep it up!

    All the Best,
    Yossi

    Nice one Donna… ACTION!

Watched a Football match the other night and when they interviewed the losing captain to ask what went wrong, he simply said, “Excuses are for losers!”. Although they had lost, there are still no excuses.

Great video by JB as well. 🙂

Thank you my friends for commenting on my post. Yes, Rasia, we can read the entire library, but if we don’t do anything with it, what is it really worth?

    Hi Donna,

    Great step by step guide!
If you don’t take action you can become a live library, and knowledge without action is useless!

    Absolutely Donna!

with Online Marketing, as with almost everything human beings can or have achieved, all depends on the first step.

Those who stay behind will have to work HARD to catch up.

    Saludos!

    Hey Donna,

Taking ‘ACTION’ is the name of the game with anything in life!! People must learn there is nothing to be afraid of and everything to gain! The more we do the uncomfortable things, the sooner they will feel ‘comfortable’!

    Thanks Donna,

This is great info! In the South, we just say “get ‘R done!” Or the more sophisticated people say “Just do it!” I didn’t see a North/South translation button, but I’m pretty sure “Take Action Now!” and my 2 phrases mean the same thing LOL 🙂

Michaele, thanks for the response. I am also revamping my blog. Jonathan Budd’s video was so inspiring. But that is the kind of guy he is. He is like a cheerleader, every time he posts something, I get all revved up to do it!

Hey Jan, Just do it is my motto. Yes, our accountability for writing at least one blog a week became a habit along side with twitter and face book. And Yes, JB is a ball of energy! That’s what I like about that kid. lol.

    Hey Donna,

I watched Jonathan’s video the other day and I have to say, it’s the best one I’ve seen to date.
So much of what he was saying about “Are you in the Game” rang home for me.
I catch myself spending so much time trying to get things ‘right’ that I forget to ‘do’!

Thanks for the reminder on setting things up with your new blog. I just launched a new one today only this time, I will be fine tuning and making it look pretty later 🙂

Hey Donna – You hit the nail on the head here – it’s all about taking action. Taking the first step is a good start, but follow through is key. Get started with your blog, and then follow through – write the post. I have a goal to publish a new post every week before my syndication group meets. It really is helpful to have some accountability – but the key is “Just Do It”. Take one step at a time and pretty soon it becomes a habit – Blogging, twitter – I love social media! I love that video JB did – he is a ball of energy and so inspiring. Thanks for sharing!
