My 100th Blog Party

This post was most recently updated on February 22nd, 2014

100th Blog PartyThis is my 100th blog.

I’m having a birthday party for donnamerrilltribe.com

The number 100 is a milestone.  As I look back when I first started blogging, I was filled with excitement to get my first single reply to one of my posts.  Now I regularly get so many replies from so many great bloggers.  I don’t accept one liners, nor do I accept comments from people with no gravatars – unless I know that they are working on something.  So the comments are pretty substantial.

As I sit and ponder this milestone I look back and ask myself what has this blog brought to my life?

Besides the business factor, what I celebrate the most is the sharing and caring aspect of donnamerrilltribe dot com.

It has been such an incredible learning experience along the way. I’ve learned so many things. I could jam 4 years of college into the short time I’ve been blogging.

A rule of thumb for bloggers is to take what we learn and teach it to other people.

I learned how to put in my own opt-in page. Now this must seem trite to many, but for me it was a huge challenge.  As most of you know, I am terrible when it comes to technology.  I’d rather hire someone to do it for me than to learn to do something requiring technical skill.  But..I challenged myself and actually learned to create my own opt-in. Horray!

Another great thing about blogging… I have met the most incredible people on the planet.

Following Seth Godin’s “tribe” philosophy, I teamed up with several tribes, ergo, the name of my blog.  I still belong to various tribes and have found the reciprocity in these groups to be the most wonderful energy experienced.

Through “tribing” with others, the connection I’ve made with my readership has become one of friendship.  There are so many people that have impacted my life online, that I cannot mention them all.  It just wouldn’t be fair.  All of you who come and visit have touched my life in a special way.  On this “Birthday Blog Post”, I am celebrating YOU my friends.

The “Tribe Mindset” is something that immediately takes your mind off of yourself and your business to blossom into a go-giver.  This is good business.  The more you give, the more you reap.  It is beyond money, it is the energy we all share.

Learning is Earning

As I look back, I realize all that I have learned about Internet Marketing in addition to blogging.  I have to giggle to myself because never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be a marketer.  I learned marketing techniques from courses I took along the way.  But mostly, I have learned it from other bloggers who were outside of my niche.  There are the techies, who were sometimes a bit over my head… but I learned to carry on a reasonable conversation with them about backlinks and hyperlinks and html codes and all that sort of thing.  There were also many “network marketers”, who taught me many techniques for getting over myself and “selling”… something I thought I could never do.

And then there are the many people within my niche whose self- help and self-development skills were a blessing and a reinforcement to my existing knowledge and experience.  I was always especially happy to “mastermind” with them and participate in our mutual growth.

So the bottom line is this: Blogging has not been so much about making money (the first ostensible reason I started blogging), as it has been about the process of personal growth and the people who I’ve been blessed to develop true relationships with.

As I blow the candles out, my wish for this 100th blog is Blessings To You, all my friends.

Donna

I am sure by now you have pasted the 100th mark but congratulations it sounds as if you have enjoyed the experience and grown withit. You got me to thinking about how much I have grown with my blogging and a gratitude list began to formulate. You mentioned the influence of being part of a tribe and the people you have met. Like you this to has attributed to my growth in business and blogging. When I first started out I really questioned how will I pull this off. There was so much to learn. I have enjoyed the journey and so glad you have too.

Happy 100th Blog Birthday, Donna! So this is your 100th post, I assume? Or is it really your 100th Blog? Gosh, how do you manage all 100 blogs?

You have excellent tips laid out. Like you, I’ve met a lot of amazing people through blogging. People who we’ve either helped one way or the other, or we’ve learned from. My rule of thumb, not just in the blogging and online world, is to give back to the community in whatever way I can. As the saying goes, what goes around, comes around 🙂 Again, congratulations on your 100th blog, Donna!

Happy 100th Blog Post Anniversary, Donna! I’m curious as to all the tribes you are part of: would you care to share them at some point? Your new optin form looks beautiful: you did a great job! Blogging, with all its ups and downs, has also been a wonderful blessing to me, and I find that the more I give, the more I get back 🙂

Happy 100 posts! I may have to eat some chocolate cake in your honor 🙂

It’s funny how you said you leaned more than you could cram into four years of college. Real experience and learning through and with other people is the best teacher. There is only so much you can learn at a desk with a book. Even in the limited experience you get in school, there is still nothing like the real world. I found that to be true in my teacher career and in my marketing career.

One of the things we learn in real life is the point you mentioned about “tribes”. Success is about collaboration and relationships. We can’t just go out and start/run a successful business. We may have all the pieces and plans in place, have a great business model and lots of cash, but without people we’re going nowhere. It’s so important to build up those relationships.

Blogging is a great way to do that. I know I’ve met some super people through blogging (like you!) and it makes all the difference in the world. I can’t imagine what it would be like to just blog and not be able to talk to people about it or hear their comments and share my comments with others.

I’m happy for you on this momentous occasion and I’m glad I could be here for some of your journey. Can’t wait to read the next 100 🙂

    100 posts, huh? Congrats, Donna!

It takes a lot to achieve that milestone, especially when writing for a real audience 🙂

You are right, Blogging isn’t about the money we make. It is about providing value. It is about passion (well, it should be – passion to write and provide value to our readers).

Anyways, I hope you continue your journey and you share your experience with us! Thank you 🙂

My advice to you would be get a few people together and have a blogging challenge. Even one person will do. Blogging is our home base and it shows who we are and what we do.
Start a blogging challenge with a buddy and be accountable to one another so you HAVE TO blog.

      Hope that helps,

I haven’t really looked into the Tribes stuff yet, although I know it’s something I should get into.

      Hi Tim,

Thanks so much! Tribing was created by Seth Godin. It is a community of bloggers that visit each other. All tribes differ with their rules, but it is mostly based on a go giving process. Some say comment on three blogs and syndicate them and then post your blog. It is a great method to make relationships.

Now, the new buzz is “alliances” which are the same thing. Call it what ever you will, it is great to get into a group of bloggers that you can lean on and make good connections with. We can’t do it all…so together we can help one another to get the job done.

If you are ever interested in “Tribes” let me know.

It can lead to a big headache if someone has a bad site and you accept them. You can also delete their commentluv in case you want to accept the comment, but do not like their link. I have done this sparingly if the link is to a static sales page.

    Congrats Donna!

I think the following quote fits the occasion: “I’m a big believer in growth. Life is not about achievement, it’s about learning and growth, and developing qualities like compassion, patience, perseverance, love, and joy, and so forth. And so if that is the case, then I think our goals should include something which stretches us.”

      Hi Lynn,

Thanks for your touching words. I too am a big believer in growth. After all, what else is there when you think about it.

I don’t see myself as an 80 year old woman who won’t keep up with the times. (If I make it to 80 he he) When I look at people, some who refuse to grow are old before their time.

As long as my brains are ok….I intent to never stop!

Congratulations Donna! What an accomplishment. I appreciate the opt-in page struggle…I don’t consider myself technologically challenged exactly, but find every time I encounter a new software there is a learning curve and I am always grateful for patient tech support folks.

Enjoy your second 100 posts! May they bring you and even greater level of appreciation and abundance.

Thank you for your kind words Celeste.

Yes, I agree, every time I learn a new software too, there is always changes, but whenever I have a question I go to Kimberly Castlebury (in the above comment) Her blogs are great, so is her FB page and especially her webinars. If you ever need help, she is a go-to gal.

Happy 100 post! Woo hoo! You go there my friend. What an accomplisment! You wrote a sweet and meaningful post. I agree with everything, especially the part about meeting all kinds of awesome people! The “Tribe” that’s where it started for me as well. Over the past year my own skills have grown sharper – although I have much to learn. I’m not that “techy” either. But, well done my friend, well done. I look forward to your next milestone too 🙂

      Hey Lesly,

Tribes are where I met so many people..and still do. I like to be in tribes as they grow because there is more masterminding going on, and new people all the time.

It is funny when I go to a new circle and see my tribe buddies there. But what I wrote was from the heart. It is exactly how I feel. Grateful!

      Thank you

    Happy 100 post anniversary, Donna!

I like the way you are so appreciative of all the people who are visiting and commenting on your blog. I like it because I feel a lot like you. Each time someone leaves a comment on my blog, I NEVER take it for granted. I am full of appreciation and I feel liked and loved 🙂

I am so like you as well, when it come to tech stuff. I’d also pay someone to do certain things rather than going through the painful process of learning it. For me some technical steps are just that, painful, because I always wonder what if it doesn’t go as sooth as they say it should? I know I should know better and not think that way though.

Congratulations on your blogging journey, Donna 🙂

      Thank You Sylviane!

It is nice to know that someone else doesn’t like tech stuff. I guess it is because we are in the self development area and we think differently.

I feel like you when someone leaves a comment, I never take it for granted either. I do, however, feel bad for the people that I cannot accept on my comment section.

I don’t accept comments without gravatars (unless I know there is a problem with that person) I also don’t accept automated one liners like
“Great post” It is too much of a job to check out the comment luv on someone’s blog that I don’t know.

I don’t like comments that lead to a business page lol! But I thank you for being part of my life.
