Who Doesn’t Want Recurring Income?

This post was most recently updated on August 1st, 2016

Who Doesn't Want Recurring IncomeSo really, now… Who Doesn’t Want Recurring Income?

In fact, one of the most lucrative types of blogs and websites uses “recurring income” as it’s main business model.

It seems kind of obvious, doesn’t it?

Which would you prefer?

Get paid once (what online marketers call the “one-off” option)…

-or-

Get paid regularly, typically, every month.

I’m sure you’ve seen this varying business model in many instances.

I use a webinar software that I purchased for a one-off price.

The truth behind this story is that “I know a guy” (as they say in my old Brooklyn neighborhood).

This “guy” is a top software creator who offered this deal a while back and I jumped on it.

If you’ve shopped around for a way to produce webinars, I’ll bet you’ve only found ones that charge you a monthly fee. And it’s not cheap either, is it?

The point is, most of the big product developers would far prefer that you pay a monthly subscription that is “good until cancelled,” rather than a one-off fee.

No wonder to that.

Special: Start Blogging… Right Here

Just think of the benefits of running an online business based on recurring income

You get a steady income.
No more struggling to get a commission here and there. Make one sale and get paid over and over again instead of just once. Remember, these subscription fees are steady income even though they are only good until cancelled. If the product is good and valuable, your cancellations should not outpace your new subscription rate.

You establish a reliable cash flow.
This allows you to project your income, and buy ads or commit to other expenses pretty much knowing how much income you’ll be getting each month.

You lower the barrier of entry.
Example: If you have something worth $500/year, it means only people with $500 today can get started. That’s a barrier to entry for many people. Instead of your customer having to pay the full amount, though, they could get started by paying only $49 for the first month, and each month after. Many more people will now be able to get started immediately.

You build a steady customer base.
When you sell a one-off product or service, people may use it once, twice… who knows how many times? Usually, they use it a few times then forget about it. Then they lose interest in the product, in your service, in your emails and in your business. They’re like a one-night stand, here today, gone tomorrow. But when they buy in on a recurring subscription basis, they’ll come back to your product over and over again. They’ll remember you, they’ll open your emails, they’ll visit your site regularly and they’ll be exposed over and over again to your up-sells, down-sells, cross sells, related products, upgrades, renewals and all the rest. In short, they’ll become a loyal customer and a recurring buyer.

You can see the benefits of having a continuity based product, service or membership site of some type.

Those benefits clearly go much deeper than simply having recurring income for the front end product.

So, if want recurring income (who doesn’t?), how do you do it?

Membership Sites

You can build a membership site that people pay for on a subscription basis, and in return, they get a regular drip feed of content.

One person I know has a meditation music membership site.

Special: Learn To Blog… (My Video Inside)

Each month he creates a new piece of meditation music (he’s a composer and musician). The customers pay a monthly fee, and each month they get a new meditation audio recording.

That’s a simple example of a membership site that gives the owner a recurring income.

I run a free membership site (Whirlwind Success VIP Club) that people join to get a steady drip of information about blogging and internet marketing, as I create it (with my husband, David). There is also a paid upgrade to the free site (VIP Club Pro) that combines coaching and advanced training in the same areas.

The VIP Club is an example of an information based membership site.

There are many different types of membership sites, but I think you can see from these examples how it works, and how you can create recurring income from operating such a site.

Coaching

Another way to build recurring income is with various coaching programs.

You might teach somebody conversational Spanish, for instance. This might be on a subscription basis, where the client pays a monthly fee until they cancel. Each month, you arrange lessons by email, then coach them directly in a weekly or even daily Skype call.

You can coach individuals on this basis, or even a group of people.

You can even sell coaching “packages” which are, essentially, subscriptions. So, for instance, you might coach somebody to set up Facebook ad campaigns for $300 a month, until cancelled. But as a package deal, you could offer your clients an annual subscription coaching plan where they agree to pay $175 a month on a recurring basis. This would greatly increase the likelihood that they would maintain their subscription and give you a more predictable recurring income.

My Blogging Mentorship Program

Subscription-Based e-Commerce Sites

Now, this is a business model that people are not so familiar with as the first two.

But it can be easier to set up and has an unlimited potential for recurring income.

I haven’t actually done this myself, yet.

I say “yet” because I “know a guy” in the business who is going to be getting me involved in this very soon.

So let me explain it as I understand it at this time.

Did you ever purchase a tangible product that involves a monthly subscription?

I have.

I use a cosmetic care system that works well for me. Now I’m not selling you on this, just sharing what I have purchased myself.

I pay a monthly subscription fee and get an auto-ship of a month’s supply of the cosmetic creams.

How about those new gym clothes?

Special: Learn To Blog… (My Video Inside)

My step daughter opted into one and received a beautiful set for a low price. Because of all the compliments she was getting in her gym, she decided to upgrade to their subscription program. She received one outfit a month by mail for as long as she remained in the program.

My daughter, the shoe freak, subscribes to get one pair of shoes a month. Sounds crazy? If you knew her… this is one of her few luxuries of life. She’d buy them each month whether they were not delivered or not. So it works for her.

My niece subscribes to a program that sends her healthy home cleaning products. The products are amazing and don’t hurt her dogs with nasty chemicals.

So what am I getting at here?

Subscription based e-commerce sites are hot.

They offer people tangible things that they need, use and that make their lives a bit better.

You’re probably familiar with these programs.

But did you know that you could actually run an e-commerce site that affiliates these subscription based products?

It’s a form of affiliate marketing, but it’s affiliating tangible products instead of digital ones.

Now, I absolutely love my online business, but there is something inside me that wants to get into that tangible product thing.

I always did have my grubby little hands on something tangible. From real estate to selling antiques. It’s an enjoyable, hey, maybe even therapeutic, thing for me.

I’ve been craving lately, to get into that hand to hand exchange of tangible objects.

I loved finding antiques, cleaning them up and re-selling them at retail outlet where I rented space.

I liked getting houses in need of improvement. David and I would rip out carpeting, climb ladders, paint ceilings, plant shrubs… and then stage and flip it when it when it was done.

I’d been thinking lately how this hands-on thing has been missing in my life.

Now, my marketing buddy has offered me a sort of a solution… a way to get involved in tangible retail products that I could offer online via e-commerce sites.

I love retail. I used to be a fashion buyer for Macy’s.

I even volunteered to run a local thrift shop a few hours a month.

I love retail!

So, I pushed myself to Think of the Possibilities.

It could become an additional twist to my existing group of online businesses, and it could represent a new level of training for me to offer my students and clients.

Special: Learn To Blog Better… From Me… Today

As a coach and mentor, I work with people trying to build an online business for themselves. I know that online business, even blogging, is a not one size fits all enterprise.

One compelling reason for me to learn this new operation is to be able to help others that want to do this kind of business.

I teach people every day how to do affiliate marketing, create and market their own information products, ebooks, blogs, websites and so much more. These are all things I do routinely, and so coaching others to do it is easy.

Being a coach, though, requires me to keep on the cutting edge of things. That means exploring many different forms of online business.

The idea to start learning more about e-commerce came to my mind like some kind of Law of Attraction. And then, as the Universe would have it, this particular connection with one of the top experts in the business just fell into my lap.

I don’t really believe in coincidences, do you?

Go figure.

Why e-Commerce Sites?

Think of it this way.

You have money. What do you do with it? Put it all in a bank?

Crazy!

You have to invest in various things. Put your money to work.

It can be the stock market, gold, property, businesses and so on.

I’m not a financial wizard, or even close to it.

But I’ve invested many times in the past and presently.

The main thing to keep in mind is that although you may be making money with your current online business, don’t keep your eggs in one basket.

And I’m not talking about just e-commerce sites.

I’m particularly interested in subscription based e-commerce sites.

Now, in case you didn’t know, people can affiliate subscription based tangible products through Amazon, Ebay and Shopify already. But these are quite different and far less powerful than the kinds of programs I’ll be investigating, and reporting back to you on in the near future.

This isn’t for everyone, naturally.

And I’m the first one to urge you to keep focused on your current business.

This is where I’ll start posting the information on these recurring income, subscription based e-commerce sites as I develop it in the very near future. Meanwhile, there’s other great blogging and online business training going on there right now.

So that’s it for now.

Just one more thing.

There are many paths to take.

But recurring income business models are far more attainable than folks thing. And far less complicated than they imagine.

Oh the mind… it limits us so until we realize that we’re the master of our destiny. Love the feeling 🙂

Hey, my friend, stay tuned because I’ll be starting up some cool things along these lines real soon.

    Donna,

Recurring income is definitely appealing because you do the work once and get paid as long as the person maintains their subscription.

The key to people maintaining their subscription is to give them good value for their money each month. You have mentioned several forms of recurring income but the key to each one is offering good value for the money spent. This then allows for number of unsubscribers each month which will hopefully be outnumbered by new subscribers.

I have been involved in tangible product subscriptions in the past. It will be interesting to see what kind of tangible product subscriptions you are going to be presenting in the future.

I look forward reading more about these product subscriptions in the futures.

    Great information

      Hi Dee Ann,

You’re so right about giving value.

People like subscriptions, but only if it’s good quality, high value, great customer service.

We must keep that clear in our minds when we’re creating our own programs, of course.

But it’s also important to keep in mind when we’re assessing affiliate programs for physical products to align with.

Much more to come on that story 🙂

    Hi Donna

Recurring income is something everyone is looking for. In many businesses, there is no option for recurring income. Like web design and many more.
Some affiliate program of a kind offers you recurring income but that is actually not enough considering the scale that is required.
I think, membership sites is a very nice idea. I would surely do this as I am not a good teacher to start a coaching otherwise I would have been doing the same.
Thanks for sharing a nice article.

      Hi Monisha,

What you’re talking about is called a “subscription box” where you sign up and get a bunch of related products in a box each month.

      Very popular!

You could do that for your own business, but hey… so much easier to be an affiliate of someone else already doing it. It can, of course, be related to your business for your own site.

But you can also set up independent e-commerce sites that have nothing to do with your primary business.

I’ll be doing this soon, so keep your eye out.

    Hi Donna,

Indeed, who doesn’t want a steady recurring income? Well said!

I’ve been thinking of how I can incorporate a membership site with what I’m teaching on my blog. But I think first and foremost that building my audience up first is important. This is why I want to start doing webinars and have been looking at Hangouts for this.

I do like your idea of offering a free membership site. Is this a kind of “inner circle” access to more information?

    I’m looking at coaching too.

Right now, as I say, I’m building up my audience and am creating a small product to sell soon on my blog that’ll help people who are struggling to find their niche.

I’m in an audiobook subscription club which sounds similar to the subscription-based eCommerce site option you mention here. You’ve given me an idea to think about here, Donna – a subscription-based site that sends out an ebook/video class each month for bloggers. Hmm! Something to think about indeed. Cheers Donna!

      Hi Tom,

So many choices, so little we can do to accomplish them all 🙂

I love to get the idea in my students’ heads… do less, not more.

Get just ONE thing to focus in on at any one time. I know I have lots of things going on… coaching (several programs), digital info products on JVzoo, WSO’s, several membership sites…

but they didn’t happen simultaneously, and I do work with David, too, so there’s two of us.

      Webinars are great, member sites.

It’s all good but do yourself a favor and really decide which one is your BEST path right now. All the other stuff can happen later, but if you try to do it all, none of it will get done.

I know you’re just throwing out ideas, but I’m kind of saying this for others reading the thread, too, and maybe you’ve actually got a perfect handle on this.

Thanks so much for taking time to let me know your thoughts my friend.

    Hi Peter,

I love the story of subscription product and how the concept developed. Interesting, too, that when there’s a limited supply of something, then “subscriber” status gains increased value. So people actually benefit in the ways you mention by being a subscriber.

Nice to see, too, that you’ve already gotten your feet wet with digital membership sites. It’s a tremendous skill to achieve because all you need to do is scale it up as you get more traffic to it, and find more ways to increase its value for your members. It even gives you the experience and skill-sets to set up other membership sites in the future as it fits into your business.

    Hello Donna,

Recurring income – the dream goal of many online marketers, if not most of us!

As a digital marketer-blogger my main exposure to the wonderful world of recurring incomes is the 2 membership site I created about 1 year ago. Although they are only $4.95 per month fee and from experience so far most members hang in there for at least 5 months – those little dollars all add up.

Not only that it gives me the chance to build even better relationships with those members.

Hopefully this is not out of place here Donna but I want to add a comment about your subscription based e-commerce sites and the exeriences of your step- daughter.

We live in a remote Thai village and another one of our businesses is exporting naturally dyed, handmade Thai silk fabric.

We have a very definied niche audience who loves to buy handmade things, enjoys silk as a fabric and are absolute “greenies” as far as chemical free products are concerned.

In addition to this, we share all profits with our village to help with the education of our vilage kids – and people just love this mission of ours.

However, the natural dyes and hand made processes always mean that our stocks are extremely limited and we often run out of stock or have people waiting sometimes for months for their order to be completed.

We only sell our products online – no physical shop.

We suggested to our “village community” subscribers the idea of a small paid monthly subscription that entitled them to not only exclusive discounts but also access to our latest creations before they went onto our website.

This proved to be a winner and we now have closed subscriptions as we cannot supply enough products.

The concept heped our village with a recurring income stream we never had before and at the same time gave exclusive access to our most regular customers – and we always add in aditional surprise bonuses for this special group.

That’s my 2 cents worth for today.

Thanks for sharing your recurring income options Donna

Best wishes as always from a remote Thai village blogger

The membership sites are something I really want to do; I just have no idea how I want to do it. That’s the one thing I haven’t seen a lot of over the years, an explanation of it all. I have a small book that a friend of mine wrote that I read and it sounds like it would be a good deal but he didn’t talk much about the process of creating one. I think if I can figure that out then I might do it.

      Hi Mitch,

Membership sites are great. I have several of them, I’m sure you know. It’s not so much that they’re “difficult” (but they are if you have no idea how to set up sites)… it’s more of an issue that there are so many moving parts that must be arranged perfectly and sequentially in order for everything to work.

That said, membership sites are an amazing way to build recurring income if you have something valuable to share within a tightly defined community.

Hope to see you do this, Mitch.

That was a wonderful advice! I think having a recurring income is what everyone should be focusing on. It’s working smart without having to deprive your customers/audience off the value.
I cent percent agree on the methods you have put and having a membership site is what you’ve already done!
You are a good example of how you can earn more with hard work and a good strategy.

I have been thinking to put my own products (I am wiring a book!) which are another method of making money recurringly.

Setting up a coaching site is well on the horizon but that’s a distant game as of now.

      Hi Swadhin,

I’m glad to see you do so many things to get into the recurring income model.

Trick #1 is to do just one thing at a time. Get a coaching program together if you can help people. Takes only a few hours to set up. Join my Free VIP Club if you’d like to follow the training I’m doing on this right now.

Trick #2 Write your book, then make it a digital offering as a WSO. If it’s crazy long, make it several offerings. Learn to create digital info products rather than simply write a book. Much easier to market.

Trick #3 Write more books/articles/content. Get a system in place to kick out paid content and free content every single week.

      Trick #4 Market.

Do it right and you’ll have recurring income.

      Good luck!

    Hi Donna,

I would love to have a recurring income, that would be a dream come true. 🙂

I have a couple of clients that pay a recurring income for web maintenance but like you say, we can’t put all our eggs into one basket, so I’m also looking for ideas to generate a recurring income for my blog and you sure did give me some great ones here.

Out of the three you shared the one that’s right up my alley is coaching. I had never thought about coaching. I’ve exchanged emails and comments on Facebook from folks who have asked questions about blogging…never thought I could turn that into an income stream…this was a light bulb moment for me so thank you!

I can’t wait to read what you have to share about the subscription based e-commerce sites. I had thought about doing this myself a couple years ago but never got around to it. I wish you all the best with it!

You always have great things to share, thank you!

      Hi Corina,

I’ll certainly be updating the idea of subscription based e-commerce as I get deeper into it. Right now I’m at the surface level, but very fortunate to know some big players behind the scenes.

As for coaching, it’s an excellent recurring income model. I use it, as do many other people. Again, folks over-complicate things. It’s a far less complicated thing to do than most bloggers think. If you’re on my free VIP Club, I’m doing a training right now on how to start your coaching business. It’s free, but you need to sign up (click the banner at the end of this post to join, if you haven’t yet).

    Hi Donna!

Recurring income is so wonderful. I’ve never really worked a traditional job so I haven’t really experienced the sort of secure feeling having a consistent and expected income source can bring. My membership site is one of my favorite income streams now and while it’s too early to tell how long the average person will stay signed up, you are right that new subscriptions should outpace unsubscribes.

I’m getting into private labeling in another business of mine and would love to sell something that needs to be replenished. Only problem of course is these super profitable products tend to be quite saturated and competitive.. but I’m sure I’ll figure out something that works. Recurring payments like these give us a lot more opportunity to scale, and in my opinion, a business that can’t scale to massive levels isn’t worth operating.

    Gotta love it!

      Hi James,

You said it… if you can’t scale your business, it isn’t really worth operating.

The absolutely best way to scale a business is to have at least one recurring income component. This gives you a base to work from, so that as your profits become predictable, you also know what you can do to increase it. Meanwhile, you’re able to start working on other things that will only scale your business to higher levels.

Scalability is a big reason why you want to establish some kind of recurring income for your online business.

    Hi Donna,

To answer your question, I (along with most everyone I know) love the idea of recurring income.

I can really appreciate this post. It’s filled with awesome ideas – most of which I’m somewhat familiar with.

I do have a book published, and besides wanting to inform people about how to avoid unnecessary injury in their exercise program, I knew it would be a way to open a channel for ongoing income.

Like you, I see unlimited possibilities. More so as time goes by.
I think the stage is set for people to become masters of their own destiny here – and it’s an exciting thing to see.

      Hi Dana,

You’ve put your finger on the essence of this post. It’ all about helping people to become “masters of their own destiny.”

Nothing accomplishes that like recurring income. There are several ways to accomplish that and none of them are as complicated as people often make them.

There’s a few things you’ve got to learn, you’ll probably need some coaching help along the way… but you can do it! Sure you can 🙂

I’ll be reporting on this more as we get more involved in it. Not sure where it will lead, but I certainly look forward to digging into the backstage scene on this one. If someone will sign up to get a new pair of shoes every month… I think subscription based e-commerce has some crazy potential 🙂

As usual what a post. Who would not die for a recurring income. It is a model that suits every entrepreneur.

I know of e-commerce sites which are profitable but not subscription e-commerce sites. This is new to me.

This is a business model that isn’t popular so it would be great to learn about it plus I can see so much benefits.

Thanks for sharing and looking forward to learn in the VIP.

      Hi Ikechi,

This is totally new to most people, but I know some big marketers who have been scoring heavily with this system for 5 years and more.

So it’s not new… but it truly is one of those “secret” methods that the insiders don’t like to talk too much about.

I’ve come up with some difficulty uncovering this for myself, even, but have made some very strategic inroads lately.

      More to come… 🙂

    Hey Donna,

    First off, Happy New Years!

Who doesn’t want recurring incoming? The goal for many of us was to make money online. But whats smarter is to get a monthly income through our products/services and there’s a lot of sites like this.

Having a site selling tangible products is a great idea. The only thing that was similar was selling that I’ve done was selling health products using MLM. Back then that was a huge challenge because I really didn’t know what I was doing LOL. But you live and learn right?

But ecommerce sites are another great option in the internet marketing world and if you can find a product that your market wants, then that’s another stream of income for you!

Thanks for sharing Donna! Have a great week!

      Hi Sherman,

You’re right that people usually think MLM and Network Marketing when we talk about tangilble products.

That’s all about team building, team training and constantly motivating your downlines to work hard.

The subscriber based sites I’m talking about in this post are much more like niche marketing than network marketing. You don’t need to promote to friends (and definitely not family… lol). It’s very different than niche marketing though because you’re promoting recurring income products rather than one-off which most niche marketing deals with.

I’ll be talking about this more in the near future.

    Hi Donna

By writing this post you hit the human instinct that desire more without doing more. One of the biggest benefits of recurring income is its big support to keep you venturing in other fields or business to earn more.

Most of the people don’t succeed or not succeed greatly just because they can’t meet their basic expenses on recurring basis and that is why they have to do a job putting aside their key passion that may be quite different from the nature of their job.

You well mentioned the main ways and resources to create a stream for recurring income and I don’t think any of them is difficult if one gets guidance from a perfect professional like you before venturing into it.

Many thanks for sharing such a helpful post especially for those who were confused on this amazing aspect of online money making

      Hi Mi Muba,

Recurring income business models are a great way to sustain you as you build business growth. We used to talk about “funded proposals” as a way to keep money in your bank account while you grow your business, but they usually referred to things like network marketing.

The examples here are full business models, really, so while they’re a great way to get some funds for building up your business, they can be the only thing you need. They can go way beyond just being a stepping stone to reaching your dreams.

    Hey Donna,

What a great topic to discuss. And yes, who would not want some type of recurring income. I know this is something that came to my attention this past summer, and I have been mulling over how to make it work

I have my own ideas as to what type of recurring income I want to do, but enjoyed reading about your suggestion about the membership site. I can certainly see this working for some.

I actually have looked into doing a membership site myself, but just trying to figure out how to do it.

I want to get x number of customers to support my recurring income model, and I have been doing tons of research this last year to plan how to do it. I am hoping to get it setup this year. As, its also nice to have this type of income during lean times, if you know what I mean.

Thanks Donna for sharing these tips and I will be off to share these with others.

      Hi Rob,

I see you’re on your own quest for recurring income. Yaaay

I love to see people taking action on their dreams, and it looks like you’re doing it. There are a lot of technical hurdles to clear when setting up a membership site, but the core issue is using it to give steady value to the right audience.

If you feel that you can deliver that kind of value, and really make a positive impact on the’ lives of your members… then do it. If you need to get coaching to make it happen, don’t delay.

People like to be part of an ongoing membership, whether it’s being part of a coaching program, membership site or subscription-based tangible product. They feel like they’ve got continual support and they’re happy to be part of that.

      I call that a win-win.

      Hi Mark,

It’s great to build a profit scheme into your blog, into your online business… but who wants to be constantly… forever… trying to make new sales?

New sales means new customers, means new traffic, means renewed and endless effort, means new advertising payouts, means an ever growing advertising budget… etc etc.

Isn’t it best to take full advantage of the audience we already have than to have to constantly be rebuilding our customer base?

The answer is to include some degree of recurring income into our business. I’ve given you some excellent ways to do it, here. I hope you get to put them to some good use.

    Hi Donna,

Funny you should talk about the different subscription services available today. I have noticed an increase of what you can buy monthly and have sent on a regular basis. There’s gym clothes, men’s razors, cosmetic samples, shoes and I’m sure much more.

Even vendors have the option for you to set auto-refill or ship time frames to automatically send you what you previously purchased without you having to order it again (but I think you mentioned something like that for creams).

I guess from a customer perspective it takes the stress off of you to remember to buy it. And for the vendor they have a steady income.

I think everyone wants an recurring income. I mean isn’t that why we get jobs in the first place lol. Our bills are recurring so we need the income to match 🙂

      Hi Lea,

There is an increase in these subscription services, actually, subscription products. Recurring income is a powerful business concept and companies selling physical products are getting in on it big time.

That means, big time opportunity with often high commissions for affiliates.

First problem, very few people know where to find these opportunities; second… they don’t know how to locate those with high commissions; third… they don’t begin to know how to promote them.

I’m working with one of the big guys in the industry and will learn the process and report back with my findings… the pros and cons. There’s always both :))

    Hi Donna.

This is a good one covering the recurring income aspect of marketing.

One of my goals as an affiliate marketer with access to a membership site product is to get at least 50 subscribers, which would earn me $2100+ monthly in commissions.

I’d have my bills covered and would still be able to reinvest in my business to grow it bigger. Of course, that’s the first goal. The next would be 100 subscribers, but one plateau at a time.

I’m in the process of creating a page on my blog to explain this product in more detail for my readers to see for themselves if it’s up their alley.

Like everything else, I need to get the page up and get visitors to my blog.

    Hi Donna,
This is a great article on setting up a Recurring Income.
Very strange, (“as the Universe would have it”) I was just
talking to my husband about setting up a business that has
    a recurring income.
(I am sending him your article, as you explain it so well.)

We have had a 10 yr business together offline, and I would
like to now do something online. This would fit the goal.

I have done research on membership sites for an article that
I did on them. As you say there are many different types of
of membership sites. I have a few ideas on what I would like
to do as well as a coaching program.

Subscription based e-commerce site I am familiar with.
A monthly subscription fee with an auto-ship is an option
with one of my current businesses.
I have been a rep for several of these types of sites in the past.

Really great information and yes I do want recurring income!

I am looking into this subscription based e-commerce business because it is many products under one roof. It came to me just as I was talking to my husband about it. That Universe of ours is a powerful thing isn’t it?

    Hey Donna,

Yep, I would definitely agree with you about recurring income. I’m sure most will as well, we all just have to decide which business model is best for us.

There is a lot of different directions people can go and of course right now coaching is what I’ve been enjoying the most. I’ve been told that I should create a membership site for monthly subscriptions as well but I’m not quite there yet. It’s something though that I have considered doing in the future.

I do promote some products though that have recurring commissions and I have to say, they are definitely nice. I think though that we can’t always rely on others though because we all know how quickly those can disappear right!

The subscription based e-commerce sites sound more like network marketing. I don’t think I would want to undertake setting something up like that on my own but I definitely will be curious to see what you come up with. You said you were looking into that more so am eager to have you report back to us. I know if you believe it’s a great thing then I’m sure it is. I trust your judgment my friend.

As always, thank you for this awesome information and of course I’ll be sharing it as well. This is definitely an important topic and one that I know others will be interested in as well. It’s a new year and maybe some new directions people will take.

      Hi Adrienne,

Just like you I love coaching! When you get to create your membership site you will find that you can build various kinds of coaching for specific needs of people. As usual, it ain’t easy…but like anything else, it becomes part of you and starts growing.

As you know David and I have been doing it for a year and a half now and it went through various changes. We just put a free module in for those who choose. They can always update for more information.

As for the subscription based e-commerce site I stumbled upon, it captured my interest because it is so not like network marketing. As I test things out, I will be reporting back. It is funny how I came about all this because I was missing selling tangible things and then this came to me. Hmmmm …. So I’m spending my evenings studying and learning about it.

If it is a good thing, I will share it because the people that come to me for coaching have mentioned that they wanted something like this. And as a coach myself, I do need to know how businesses are ticking on the internet.

I worked on a lot of creative stuff last year including my books and developed 3 online courses. It all got great reviews and I have a wait list for the next round, but I’m taking a time out at the moment and going through a 30 day challenge on branding and creating cornerstone content. Since “membership” is definitely in the plan this year I decided now is the time to get really clear on my branding so I have a solid foundation. And I am LOVING this process because it’s really forcing me to get uncomfortable and shake things up in every area, which I realize now I needed to do. Thanks again, and Happy New Year!

    Hi Donna,

Reoccurring income! Sounds great to me…

i’m working on putting one together right now that i hope to launch the end of this month or the beginning of next month. I have a lot of videos to shoot.

My coaching is going great but I’ve been asked about creating a subscription service so here goes…

The one cool thing about creating these is for a low fee it’s also an introduction into higher tiered products or services. If they are willing to pay monthly then they may also need help with things that are higher tiered products or coaching.

    Great advice as always Donna.

In the beginning there are many videos and content to put together…been there done that lol. It is tons of work, but then you get into a rhythem. It starts becoming part of your DMO…it starts to grow as you hear people’s needs.

Creating a low fee is the best way to introduce people to a higher tiered product and service indeed.

Looking forward to seeing your launch,

      -Donna

    Hi Donna mam.
Yeah I too want recurring income. Some products on clickbank do this for me nowadays but it is not enough for me considering the expenses of my daily life.
A great list indeed. I will go with coaching probably in coming few months.
Thanks for sharing. Have a nice day mam 🙂

      Hi Vashishtha,

When it comes to clickbank it is a very difficult task to create recurring income. There is such a wide variety of things and it is difficult to pick and choose what is good and what isn’t. I don’t believe it is a great approach to recurring income.

Good luck with your coaching….I do it too and it is a wonderful experience. You can also build upon it.

    Hello Donna,

You have shared a great list to get recurring income. I personally support “Coaching”. If you are an expert in a field then you can guide other people and you can make money.

    Thanks &regards,

      Hi Moumita,

I’ve been coaching for a long time. I want to make it available for just about everyone, so besides the one to one coaching, I do have a membership site whereby coaching in other forms are available.

With coaching can come affiliate sales, and so much more. It is just a matter of putting all the pieces together for others so they can have the opportunity to purchase what they might need from a “trusted source”

    Hi Donna,

    Happy Monday 🙂

Yes indeed, who wouldn’t want recurring income, and that’s something we are headed this year with full force too! Loved all that you shared, and you are right – there are many ways you can earn online, but if you can manage to get that monthly bit, it’s a great source, and wouldn’t hurt the pockets of people all that much either.

I agree about the ecommerce sites and all the freebies they have to offer, though haven’t got much of an idea how it all goes, but surely sounds lucrative, as you talk about going that way as well. I am sure with both of you in it together, you’d make a great headway there as well.

We are just starting off a little with affiliate marketing now, along with paid reviews and sponsored posts, and more ways to monetize the blog. Coaching and membership sites are a great options, something that are in the pipeline too, but we’d be taking one step at a time for now.

Thanks for sharing it all with us. Have a nice week ahead 🙂

      Hi Harleena,

Having run a membership site for about a year and a half now seems so easy to do. I remember when it was an idea and though we could never create something that complex. But as with anything else, once you take action, it becomes second nature. I like to have different tiers of payment so that many people can benefit from it. It’s all about recurring income and numbers.

We have done affiliates also, but only those we use ourselves lol. I love coaching and having a membership site to do that with besides one to one.

There are so many ways to monetize, and as we grow and put things into action it all comes together.

      Wishing you all the best,

      -Donna
