6 Most Effective SEO Tips You Can Use In 2017 To Explode Your Search Traffic

6 Most Effective SEO TipsYou can learn how to explode your search traffic with the “6 Most Effective SEO Tips” from my special guest author, Anil Agarwal.

Anil is a master blogger and SEO expert.

I’ve observed his work for a long time now, and I can promise you… he is the real deal, and you will learn a lot from him in this article.

Believe, me, I’ll be taking notes along with you 🙂

So, over To Anil…

Do you want to explode your search traffic?

According to B2B marketing, over 10.3 billion searches are made through Google.

If you want to increase your revenue, your blog site should rank high in Google, because 80% of website traffic begins with search query according to Hubspot.

So, now you can imagine how powerful SEO is.

Without proper SEO, it’s really hard to explode traffic and sales on any website.

Here are the 6 most effective SEO tips that you can use in 2017 to explode your search traffic.

Start RIGHT NOW to drive visitors to your blog and to increase conversion rates.

#1. Come up with a List of Low Competitive Keyword Phrases

Without keywords, the blog post is dead.

It won’t reach to your potential customers.

That is why almost every successful blogger suggests that you write lengthy, in-depth,  content.

That enables you to insert, in your post, more keywords related to your blog niche.

It seems quite easy, but you need to put in a lot of effort.

Let me make it simple for you.

You need not manually search for the right keywords for your blog post.

6 Most Effective SEO Tips

There are already wonderful and amazing tools that do the job for you.

  • You can find valuable keywords with seed keywords.
  • If you are worried to know how people search for keywords related to your niche, use soovle.
  • Wanna get suggestions from Google, Bing, YouTube? Then try Google keyword suggest tool.
  • There is always a possibility that you will miss some keywords. Why miss them? Use serpstat.
  • You can find low competitive keywords with the help of SEMrush.

#2. Create Long-Form Content Around Those Keywords

Once you are ready with the keywords, start focusing on creating long-form content with those keywords.

Popular bloggers Neil Patel and Brian Clark have always stressed the importance of long-form content.

Content is the king.

If you don’t use proper keywords, your content will not have any value.

Why Develop Long-Form Content?

  • For better online visibility.
  • To drive massive search engine traffic.
  • To get potential customers.
  • It generates more leads.
  • To increase your brand in the online world.
  • To rank your page high in Google search engine.
  • It provides quality backlinks.
  • It plays a major role in your conversion rate.
  • To increase user engagement and draw a huge, highly targeted audience to your blog.
  • It entices your audience to stay on your blog for a longer time.

It is recommended that you write at least 1000 words in every post that you publish on your blog.

Remember, never write lengthy content just to stuff keywords in a post.

Always provide useful and informative content.

The content you write must solve the problems of your potential readers.

If they find your post helpful, they will bookmark your page and visit again and again.

If you want to build your email list or sell something, the best way is to write lengthy articles.

Do you know that crazy egg blog saw an increase in its conversion rate by 30 percent… just by writing long-form content?

6 Most Effective SEO Tips

Tips to Write Long-Form Content:

  • Do proper research about the topic that you are going to write.
  • Never write lengthy paragraphs in your post. Write just a 3-lined paragraph.
  • Use headings and subheadings wherever possible. It provides a clear structure for your readers.  It helps them easily navigate through your post. Expand your content under each heading.
  • Make sure that you include keywords in the introduction.
  • Be unique. Never ever copy the content. Your writing should be in your own voice.
  • Don’t cover too many topics in one post.
  • If you are specialized in any area, make sure you write about that stuff in your post.

#3. Optimize for the Google “Quick Answer Box”

You may have noticed that when you search for something in Google, apart from the search results, it also shows a “quick answer box” at the top of the page for some queries.

It gives a quick answer to your search query. Google provides the short snippet so that the users need not scroll for lengthy content.

So, the question is how does Google decide what content to display in quick answer box?

Google gets the information from reputable, top high ranking sites that appear in the search results.

Here are Few Ways You can Optimize:

  • If the image filename and alt attribute in your blog post match with the search query, there is a potential possibility that your post will be displayed.  So, in every blog post, make sure that you make your blog post title, image filename and alt attribute the same.
  • Create a summary of the post. For example, if you write a post on “Step-by-step guide to install Ubuntu”… put a summary section in your post.
  • Try to answer the complicated questions in your niche area. There are lots of unanswered questions. People look for them. You can write each answer as one separate post and for sure Google will show your page in the answer box.  You can use BrightEdge – a tool that gives results for the key phrases that don’t have answers. It’s a paid tool.
  • Use a query in the headline and answer it explicitly. And also, give variations of the answer using relevant keywords.
  • Make sure that you use all SEO techniques in your content. This will give you the best chance to have your content ranked high and get featured in Google’s quick answer box.
  • Implement schema markup code.  It is the code that you need to put on your blog for search engines to return to your page for information.  With the help of schema markup only, Google identifies what part to use in the answer box. You can know all schema options from schema-creator.org and schema.org

Here are Some More Useful Tips To Help You Optimize for Google’s Answer Box:

  • Always upgrade your content. Keep your information up-to date.
  • Get more backlinks to your blog.
  • Write lengthy content. Increase user engagement. Check #5.
  • Do extensive keyword research. Identify topics within your niche. Check whether they have quick answers or not. If not there, take up that topic and write about it on your blog.
  • In the introduction, give a one or two line solution.
  • Write attractive headlines.

Google’s quick answer box is an incredible place where you can get huge traffic to your blog.

#4. On-Page SEO Plays a Key Role Even in 2017

If you are aiming to explode your search traffic, on-page SEO is the surest technique to deploy.

There are two main factors that help in optimizing your website.  One is on-page SEO and the other is off-page SEO.  In this post, we will look into on-page SEO.

What is On-Page SEO?

It is the technique that is used to improve your page ranking in the Google search engine search results.

Why On-Page SEO and How it Benefits you?

While ranking your post or website, Google not only looks for your on-page SEO score but also considers your post shares, tweets and domain authority (DA).

When your website is displayed in the first page of the Google search engine search results, it helps bring targeted visitors to your blog.

You should do keyword research (check #1) before jumping into implementing on-page SEO techniques.

Special: Start Your New Blog Today: 3 Easy Steps

Important On-Page SEO Techniques:

#1 Use Primary Keywords in your Page Title

If you don’t write a catchy title, no one reads your post. Your post title acts as an advertisement.

If your post title is attractive, it can generate a high CTR (Click-Through-Rate). Google search engine considers CTR too when displaying your page in the first page search results.

While framing your title, it is important to include your primary keywords. Google highlights those keywords when users search for that result.

#2 Use Targeted Keywords Under Meta-Tags and Meta-Description

Never ignore the inclusion of targeted keywords in the meta-description section. Use calls-to-action like “Grab the deal” or “Learn more” somewhere in the meta-description.

Writing keywords under meta-description also increases CTR (Click-Through-Rate). Never stuff keywords unnecessarily just for the sake of it. It can make users feel like it is spam. That increases the likelihood that they’ll hit the back button which affects your blog’s SEO strength.

Always write unique content of around 135 to 160 characters in the meta description. Make sure that you use all possible relevant target keywords under meta tags section as it describes what your post is about.

#3 Optimize your URL

Always write user-friendly and clear URLs for your blog posts.  If you have two posts which talk about similar stuff, search engines consider the one with the most simple and clear URL.

To get best results from search engines, you need to optimize the URL. How you can do it?

  • Keep it short, 50 to 60 characters is enough.
  • If possible, include your primary keyword in the URL.
  • You could use your page title as the URL provided it’s short. For example, say your post is “7 marketing techniques that you should use.”  You can keep the URL as yourdomainame.com/marketing-techniques or yourdomainname.com/7-marketing-techniques.  But never use irrelevant URL’s.

#4 Optimize Your Images

Without using images in your post, I would say it’s incomplete.  One image speaks louder than thousands of words.

If you want your post to be shared massively on Pinterest and Twitter, then include images.

How do you optimize the images? Write alt text for all images because search engines find it difficult to know if your image is relevant without that snippet of text. Use keywords in the image alt text to increase the chances of the image showing up in search results.

Some More Useful Tips:
  • Your keywords should appear in the first 100 words of your blog post.
  • Use the h2 tag for sub-headings.
  • In every blog post, add 2 to 3 internal links. Internal links are the links to previous posts on your blog. Make sure that those are relevant.
  • Use social sharing buttons at the end of your post or in the side corner of your blog.
  • Write very lengthy content. Check #2.
  • Use mobile-friendly, responsive designs for your blog or else your site may be penalized by Google.
  • Use images wherever it is necessary. Good images encourage users to spend more time on your site.

#5. Link Out to Notable People, Blogs and Brands

Linking out to influential blogs and top brands drives massive traffic to your blog.

Do you know that most of the brands are now turning to influential and top bloggers to reach a new and expanded audience? To make an income through your blog, you should work with brands.

Always focus on how much value you can provide, not how much money you can make.

If any branded company feels that their product is well received by your readers, though, they could pay you to advertise for them and promote their products through your blog.

Special: Start Your New Blog Today: 3 Easy Steps

How you can do this?

Link building.

Yes, you need to get high quality links for your blog from influential bloggers. You need to grow your blog.

Here are the ways you can do link building effectively:

  • Blog commenting. This strategy generates lot of backlinks to your blog.  Make a list of the top 30 bloggers in your niche and start leaving thoughtful comments on their blogs.
  • Market your stuff excessively in social media.
  • Write guest posts for the blogs in your niche and you will start increasing the number and quality of backlinks to your blog.

#6. Don’t Ignore the User Experience

What is the quality of the user experience your visitors have when they interact with your blog?  If your blog has awesome content but poor design, it will never work.

That is why blog design is the new king, and content comes next. If the content is not readable or sufficiently visible and everything is confused, not even one reader will show interest in visiting your blog.

What can you do?

  • Use heat maps tracking from SumoMe: you can write 2 to 3 line paragraphs for each of these.
  • Stop using annoying pop-ups.
  • Make your site mobile responsive.
  • Make your site load faster.
  • Implement SSL certificates.

Make your CTA (Call-To-Actions) clear.  What action do you want your reader to take? You should make it easy for a reader to subscribe to your email list or share your content on social media. Make use of available plugins. Integrate them with your blog.

Final Thoughts on Increasing your Search Traffic in 2017

No one gets results instantaneously, especially from search engines.  Through consistent effort, though, you can achieve this goal. If you want to make a living out of blogging, you need to drive massive traffic to your sites.

To put it simply, search traffic is the lifeblood of any profitable blog or online business. To get more traffic, you need to consistently implement the few key SEO strategies and techniques I’ve outlined here.

    Hello Anil and Donna,

Nice to see this well researched blog on SEO.

Many bloggers write and say off-page SEO is better some says on-page SEO is better but in my point of view both have equal.

like you created a blog and start creating backlink without setting meta-title and description this step cause you Google penalty.

On the other hand you setup a nice blog proper on page and not creating single backlink then you can’t earned authority.

I hope you understand my points.

    Waiting for your reply.

    Thanks and best regards.

    Hey Anil,

Nice to e-meet you on Donna’s blog.

Although I managed almost every aspect of digital marketing, SEO is something I don’t offer SEO for precisely the fact that I was never good at it. Even today, I almost do nothing for SEO, except that I try to do what I can (like use a plugin maybe?)

Also, I ensured that I get the best hosting I can to help load the site load fast.

It’s posts like that help me out but that’s it 🙂

    Hi Anil and Donna,
This is really a great post

Yeah, on-page SEO is the key, I’m seeing a lot of blogging influencers leaving money on the table by neglecting this part, however they have a great link profile. They are doing a huge effort on social media platforms instead.

Personally, tried the technique of writing long form content, I have written 4000+w piece, and built no do follow backlinks, except two no follow comments, which were built unintentionally, and the result were pleasant, the piece ranked on page #1 within 3 months.

Indeed, our SEO game is not an overnight one. Being persistence is the way to do it. Even if you followed any other technique that brings you traffic to your blog, you should give people reasons to come back and revisit your blog, and that would never happen without providing posts that answer their queries, and provide value to them.

Thanks Anil and Donna, for sharing this epic post!

    Regards
    Hussain

This is a nice big picture outline to evaluate what you’re doing on a blog. I think as 2017 progresses mobile user experience is going to become more important. I’m not sure about SSL, I’m interested to see what sorts of things we see around that throughout the year. I’ve noticed some webhosts are trying to make it easier for people to implement, which is a step in the right direction.

    Hey Anil and Donna,

A lot to learn from this post and from my personal experience I certainly believe that creating in-depth articles and focusing on on-Page factors is the key as it can help us grow, although it takes time but we certainly can grow this way.

And also, I believe we should promote our content on social media to catch eyes of new readers and that way we can attract more natural links.

Anyways this is the first time I am on your site and I learned a lot from this post.

    Keep up the good work.

    Cheers

    HI Anil and Donna,

Wow! I can see that if I implemented all that you suggest, I could not help ranking much higher in Google.
For me, the issue is that I tend to have too much on my plate. I have been creating and hosting online summits which require a lot of time and reaching out and connecting with the speakers.

Your suggestions to comment on the blogs of leaders in my niche is the best take away for me.
The other comment I loved is when you said “get rid of those annoying popups!).
I HATE popups. For me they are distracting and waste my time looking for the way to click out of them.
And – I NEVER click the link that the popup offers. I prefer a clean site. If I want to click, I will.

You have provided so much valuable information that people charge thousands of dollars to learn.

    Warmly,

    Dr. Erica

Ani, thanks for sharing all these tips on Donna’s blog. I just played with some of the keyword tools and they are very helpful. I used to only use the Google Keyword tool.
I got away from it once Google made many algorithm changes in the past few years and concentrated on trying to get to the 1,000+ words. I don’t always make it on every post as I don’t want to stuff the posts with keywords or BS just to fill space.
I try to always keep the reader in mind and the type of info I share may not need long form.
Any suggestions on how to update over 500 posts? I have done a few but with over 500 it’s overwhelming!

    Hey Anil,

People expect some unique stuff that is different from every bog if we will successful in providing unique content or unique product that is different from the others our blog or product will grow up automatically.

Yes, I completely agree with you – Keywords play significant role in SEO optimization but we can say each and every content are valuable for optimization of SEO.

Selecting SEO keywords is really considered as basic process and they are highly responsible fo rour business growth through online visibility. We should try always to select right keywords for match up, basically it is considered as primary strategy for SEO.

On – Page SEO is also considered as the best practice of optimizing individual web pages in order to rank higher and earn more relevant traffic in search engines.

On – Page mainly refers to both the content and HTML source code of a page that can be optimized, as opposed to off – page SEO which refers to links and other external signals. Eventually, thanks for sharing your worthy experience with us.

Of course, if your blogging strategy does not include ranking high, then SEO is not something you’d be spending a lot of time on, I understand that.

But I’d have to say, most of my students do want to monetize their blogs with the free traffic that SEO delivers.

So it’s all a matter of what your business model is.

SEO has been changing quite a lot and so are the strategies of doing it. Keyword placement along with the similar LSI keywords is very important. Improving the Dwell time using some catchy graphics and videos can help well too.

Thanks for the awesome piece of content here, Anil.

    Have a great day ahead.

      Hi Atish,

Glad to see you around here.

Yep, I do agree LSI keywords play a HUGE role. But most people don’t get it right.

They simply stuff their content with the same keywords again and again instead of using relevant keywords.

Here’s where Google suggestion tool comes into handy. Use it wisely and you will see great results.

So glad to have you add to the conversation 🙂

Hi Anil and hello Donna maam,
This is awesome seeing you here Anil. SEO is a huge topic but if we care to optimize it a bit like you said, we can easily get access to Google’s database of visitors and increase our sales/subscribers.

Keywords and backlinks are still ruling but sprinkling the LSi keywords and adding more multimedia can do wonders to the engagement rate of the articles.

    Nice topic.

Yea, I true that. Both backlinks and keyword research plays an important role when it comes to becoming a SEO superstar.

Just make sure to focus on creating engaging content and promote the heck out of it to attract links to it and you will be well ahead of your competition.

Thanks for sharing such an and incredibly informative tutorial Anil!

You have really laid out, a very do-able, step by step evergreen game plan!

And I’m also, extremely glad, you also
stressed and emphasized, no matter what action is ultimately taken and implemented,
positive results will not appear overnight.

It takes continuous, focused effort. And for some reason, far too
many newbie bloggers, simply ignore and or discount this crucially
important component, of their overall blogging strategy.

Thanks so much, for not sugar coating this reality!

And thanks so much for featuring him Donna! He’s provided a very

      Hi Mark,

I’m glad you got so much value from Anil’s thorough article, here.

To your point, I think newbies keep hearing things from online marketers like “make money while you sleep,” “push button success,” and “set and forget.”

It lures them into thinking that they just set something up, walk away, take a nap, a Caribbean vaca… and the money just rolls in.

You know, I know, certainly Anil does… this is a business, not a lottery.

No business runs without constant effort and innovation.

For bloggers, that means content production, content marketing, data base growth and conversion.

      No push buttons anywhere there.

Wow, ton’s of great information in this post, Donna! I’m not familiar with Anil, but it’s obvious it’s a pro and he’s given us lots to think about. I’ve been diligent about optimizing content and images, but one area I’d like to improve on this year is linking to other influencers. I admit I’ve struggled with how to do this effectively in my niche, but this is a good reminder to do some experimenting. Thanks for the tips and inspiration!

Experiment girl with connecting to influencers in your niche. I have and as many won’t reciprocate because of whatever, the other people on the blog post will notice and it becomes a beginning of a relationship.

Other influencers will notice and oh boy what fun!

Even I didn’t know that long form of content rocks few years ago. I used to write 1000 word average length posts regularly and I NEVER had huge SEO success only until I started writing long form of content.

    Hi Anil and Merrill,

I don’t have much time to browse and read blogs anymore, but this was a great piece indeed.

It seems that many people disagree on what is, really, long-form content, but it seems to be for an average at around 1200 words, which is where I send for my blog.

Since I don’t come visit blogs anymore my visitors are what I call “real readers” that don’t come to my blog because I come to theirs, but people who really are there for the content and there’s no doubt that people do appreciate value.

This post of yours really brings value.

Hi Merrill, been thinking of you guys, hope all is well.

Next time, when you are writing a new post, try to cover 2000+ words. They work like a charm.

    Hi Anil,

Nice to see you here on Donna’s blog!

After 3 years of not having an SEO emphasis on Unveil The Web, we refocused the concept of community, content and SEO and the results have been nothing less than stellar!

Our previous two articles have seen massive explosion in reach and social shares.

We have chosen to do use a combination of semrush and ahrefs to determine medium keywords and evaluating the cost-per-click on the pay side.

For example, narrowing the topic to a specific subject, we can see that a medium word with a high ppc means that while traffic may be in the 30,000 – 50,000 search range per month, high cpc indicates that there is a high click through rate.

Combine that with high a usefulness per article, infographics and in-depth research and the results are there.

However, in the age of content oversaturation it’s not enough to just pay attention to the on-page aspects of SEO. The off-page is as vital.

If content creators focus all their time on-page they are missing the importance that off-page SEO provides and their efforts will fall flat.

Our emphasis has moved from generating content exclusively for those who are able, willing and ready to buy from us to those who are able, willing and ready to share our content (via social shares but most importantly via links) and have influence.

That requires a lot of networking, value and emailing.

Also, we have to consider there are so many other forms of content for SEO… list posts, go-to-guides, infographics, video and more.

Yes, focus on-page. I agree with all you said. But don’t neglect the hard work off-page or the time spent on-page will likely be wasted.

In our infographic on the Google Hack article we created, we referenced Google’s own words when they created EAT:

E = Expertise – are you creating content withing your stated expertise or are you dancing all around it?

A = Authoritativeness – Do others who have authoritative websites see your content as useful and demonstrate it via backlinks?

T = Trustworthiness – Is your content trustworthy? Is it ethical? Does it validate your expertise?

I appreciate the emphasis in your article Anil!!! I know your point wasn’t to get into all of this. I wanted to add some value to your post and let readers know that good SEO requires a lot of effort both on-page and off-page.

Because of the size of my business for the first 3 years, I chose to focus on community building. I was the best decision I could have made at the time!

However, what it did was force me to continually create more content because I would get a traffic spite for about two weeks and then it would settle down. There wasn’t a lasting value to it since it wasn’t getting new traffic a month, two months or even a year later that continually brought new social shares and opportunities.

Keep up the great work Anil!!!

      You’ve nailed it Don.

I agree with a lot of points that you shared here.

Both on page and off page plays a BIG role when it comes to increasing your organic rankings. But most people don’t really bother about them. That’s why they fail to bring more traffic.

Just make sure you are doing keyword research before you write even a word and properly use them within your content. Try to get as many links as possible to your content and you will be ahead!

    Hey Anil and Donna.

It’s good to see you around.:)

SEO has been fluctuating since its starting but the basic concepts are the same. The keyword use and optimizing your article is one of the most effective things to consider.

In the past few years, the use of the long tail keywords has increased are people are really trying to get the nop notch content.

I agree with your points of using the keyword in the meta description of the article. It really does put a positive impact.

    Thanks for sharing the guide.
