Yes, yes, yes and… no.

I am going to solve your Biggest Blogging Challenge, right here, right now.

And there’s no need to sign up for, or buy anything.

Now that’s pretty cool, right?

But maybe a bit “big thinking” when you consider all the challenges you have to blogging.

Now, here’s the thing.

This is going to be like magic because, hey, I don’t know what your Biggest Blogging Challenge is, yet… I’m promising to give you Amazingly Simple Solutions to them… sign unseen.

Mysterious and strange, yet true.

So let’s pull back the curtain and reveal all.

Amazingly Simple Solutions
To Your Biggest Blogging Challenge

Your Biggest Blogging Challenge

Amazingly Simple Solution Number One – Community

Build a community.

That’s it.

I told you this would be simple, haha.

But seriously, it doesn’t matter what your biggest blogging challenge is.

You must build a community around you and your blog.

That means, no more hiding in the shadows.

Special: FREE Guide… 4 Things I Did To Build My Blog Using Only Free Traffic

Dash those devastating little thoughts like “I don’t want anyone to know who I am… I’m just going to be an amazing writer and everyone will love my blog.”

Absolutely no more… “no gravatar for me”… meaning you don’t want anyone to see your face.

And here’s a biggie – no more… “I can’t ever do a video, no how, no way, nobody’s going to convince me otherwise.”

Forget about talking and building a great audience.

Blogging begins with listening, not talking.

I’ll talk more about that in my Amazingly Simple Solution “Number Three.”

For now, just understand… and this really is amazing simple, even though so few people really do it from their hearts… understand that if you want people to rush over to your blog to see what you’ve written about, you have to be a regular visitor to theirs.

Now, is that so hard?

Find the people you want to read your blog posts.

This is your “target audience” to get into the lingo weeds.

Once you identify the people you’d just love to have coming to your blog, go to their blogs.

Be a regular visitor, reader and contributor.

How do you “contribute?”

Two ways.

Number one, most important, first foot forward… comment on their posts.

Share their posts on your social media sites.

And do it regularly.

Number two, if you’re really going to be aggressive and outreaching… guest post on their blogs.

Just ask them if you can write a guest post for them and some will say yes, and you’ll be on your way.

Now, by commenting on their blogs and guest posting for them from the goodness of your heart (right?) – you’ll be building a community.

People see your comments and your guest posts, and they want to know more about you.

So they visit your blog and start becoming part of you community.

Amazingly simple.

Not easy, though.

It’s lots of work and time and effort and yes, it works!

Amazingly Simple Solution Number Two – Team

Gather your own team.

The thing about this is that so many bloggers want to be like the lone ranger.

They think they need to do everything themselves.

That requires, though, that they learn to do everything themselves.

And, of course, that means lots of time learning, lots of money buying courses and lots of procrastination from doing what’s most important… blogging and reaching out to others.

Special: FREE Guide… 4 Things I Did To Build My Blog Using Only Free Traffic

When you build your own team of people who can help you along the way, you are much more likely to find success as a blogger.

Not only will it help you find success, but it will help you find it much faster.

The speed of success is something far more important than many bloggers understand.

You see, the internet moves at the speed of light.

Things change so fast that what is working well today, may not be in a mere matter of months.

By the time it takes you to learn a tactic or strategy, it might not be such a great technique by the time you’ve figured out how to finally implement it.

This happens all the time.

It makes it critical to get the help of others, to build a team.

This team could include people like web designers, host management companies or email marketing coordinators.

It includes services like social media sharing services, email auto-responders and landing page software.

It’s no secret that the technical aspects of blogging pose huge challenges to budding bloggers.

If you’re not a whiz at these things, then stop fooling around with them.

Stop wasting time trying to figure it all out.

Spend your time creating great content for you blog, and give the technical chores to other people, systems and software that can handle it quickly and with ease.

This is just one example of how you can avoid getting all hung up on building things like great landing pages and sales funnels, and move your blogging business forward.

What’s your biggest challenge as a blogger?

Whose service, assistance or software might help you get unstuck?

And, the the way, the most important part of building your team is to find a great coach to help guide you.

Coaches and mentors can make such an enormous difference in your ability to succeed, and to do it rapidly.

They come in all different sizes and shapes, with all sorts of price tags.

In general, I don’t suggest that you pick the most expensive people to coach you along the way.

They are usually high-priced because they have reached a high level or success for themselves.

But beware trying to follow in someone’s footsteps.

Just because a particular method, 7-step program, or “iron clad” formula worked for them… is no assurance it will work for you.

Find someone you can really relate to, and who will be available to you in a direct and personal way.

Don’t just settle for someone’s one-size-fits-all program that all their clients have to follow, regardless of their particular needs and specific challenges.

Get a coach or mentor who is willing to take time to learn what YOU want to accomplish, and help you do it.

I may be biased, here, but I think my own coaching program is a great place to get started 🙂

But whoever you choose to work with, believe me… you really need to get coaching to make your blogging business work.

There are many pieces in the puzzle, and it’s just not feasible to try to put them all together on your own.

Special: FREE Guide… 4 Things I Did To Build My Blog Using Only Free Traffic

I know many great bloggers, and I don’t think there’s a single one of them that doesn’t hire coaching at every stage of their growth.

I don’t think I know of a single business that doesn’t hire consultants to help them move their businesses forward.

Deciding on a good coaching program is just as essential for bloggers as consultants are for other businesses.

The longer you hold off on putting a good coach on your team, the longer you put off your success.

Amazingly Simple Solution Number Three – Engagement

Build engagement with your audience.

You see, the days of simply informing people are over.

Blogging is no longer about information.

Not primarily, anyway.

There’s just too much of that everywhere you turn.

And it’s duplicated over and over in a million different ways ad nauseum.

It’s just too available and your readers want more than just the “what” in your niche.

They want the “why” and even more, the “how.”

But most of all, they want to know “why” and “how” as it relates to them personally.

Look at this blog post that you’re reading right now.

I guarantee that it really sucks on many levels that most bloggers think is so important.

  • No graphics to speak of… you know everybody thinks that’s the big deal these days.
  • It’s pretty void of any fabulous keywords for SEO ranking.
  • The title is probably not so great.
  • It’s too many words and too few headings… that’s supposed to make it too difficult to read.
  • No outbound links to what all the other blogging geniuses have to say on this topic.
  • No links to any of my other posts… that’s supposed to keep you on my blog longer so I get a better “bounce rate.”
  • Too much text, not enough white space.
  • I bet you’ll even find a few typos and grammatical miscues… but I hope not 🙁

That’s just a taste of what’s wrong with this blog post.

But what it does do right, is speak directly to YOU.

I always try my best to talk directly to you in my blog posts.

It’s really the signature part of my blog that gives it the unique feel that readers always tell me keeps them coming back regularly.

So what does that tell you?

It tells you that your readers want you to get personal with them.

Getting personal with your readers is what I’m talking about when I say to “build engagement” with them.

You see, you’re not just a lecturer.

Lecturing is only about you.

But, you can’t just keep talking.

You have to be a listener, as well.

It’s about engaging people in a conversation.

And a conversation is always a 2-way street, isn’t it?

When you’re in a conversation with someone, you talk… they listen.

Special: FREE Guide… 4 Things I Did To Build My Blog Using Only Free Traffic

Then they talk… you listen.

It’s an exchange of thoughts, ideas, feelings, goals and dreams.

It’s about understanding what people want and need, first of all.

Then, it’s up to you to provide it.

That’s your greatest challenge as a blogger.

If you don’t understand what your audience truly wants then you really cannot engage them in a meaningful conversation.

So spend time really getting to know your niche, getting to know who you’re writing for, and who you’re speaking to at all times.

If you don’t know what the exact needs of your particular audience, it’s probably because you’re doing way too much talking, and way too little listening.

So, start listening.

Want to know what your readers really want from you and your blog?

Ask them.

Stop guessing at what kind of content is valuable to your readers.

You don’t really know until you ask them, and then listen to what they say.

    Hello Donna,

Somehow I missed this article of yours. You make it sound so simple….just build a community 🙂 Yea right…that takes so much time and patience and dedication like how you have been able to achieve.

Guest Posting and “stalking” on social media is do-able I think. I am already onto that as you may have seen.

Thanks for a wonderful read again.

    Hello Ma’am.

People who blogs in a community like a team tends to grow more faster than the solo bloggers.

In brief, a team of people can achieve far more than the sum of the total of the individuals skills alone. I too have a good team members, Mihir and Satyansh. The thing becomes pretty easy because of them. With time, blogging industry is changing its trend, and people are taking blogging as a full-time profession and job. In this growing craze for blogging a powerful team up is great choice.

You have mentioned pretty good points in this amazing write up.

    Thank you.

Hi, Donna you are amazing and always, you empower me to do more!

I consider, keeping to my experiences. Sharing things on the topics. I found reading vast blogs of others. My focus, is always on the new people, online. My goal, is always to keep them moving forward and staying on one project.

My heart, is in my sharing of “What to Watch”. It is difficult and I had to take long time away. Healing and learning more things, about those who are getting hurt out here. Loss, jobs, family and all sources of income. Yet, trying to believe, they are Self-Employed. That hurts, a person of ethical passion, for others.

Writing about such things, is a challenge. I found, giving a little at a time, helps. Yes, we need interaction, with our readers. That is the bloodline, of our blogs. No interaction, we have a dead blog.

I am, starting up again. Now, updating my articles. Yes, it takes time and that is all I have, now.

Thanks Donna, for being one who inspires, all of us.

Excellent article and while all are amazingly simple solutions they are not easy. They all take time and effort but you laid it out in a simple and step by step. Personally, I got tremendous value from this post, so thank you.

My biggest challenge is actually writing the post. Writing has always been a weakness of mine so it is something I will have to continue practicing and improving on.

Hi Donna. Community. Team. Engagement. The three must have things for blogging success. This is a very useful and interesting post for anyone who wants a well-trafficked blog that produces leads and sales for you. In fact, I’d say people can learn from the large community you have drawn to this blog, and the wonderful engagement that leads to even more comments and potential customers.

Well first of all Donna, I have to say I loved your post! It was very engaging for me.

I personally have been having a problem with creating great content for my blog and find that I still haven’t found a community yet.

No one has been engaging with my posts and maybe that’s because I haven’t really found the correct voice yet. It does feel kind of like I am lecturing rather than trying to have a conversation with my readers. I get about 300 views per month so you would think that at least 1 of those 300 people would comment or share my post right?

Also I have read on several other blogs that we should show ourselves on the blog. I don’t even have my picture on my blog yet. So I think I’ll also have to change that.

My hope is that I can start creating more of a community and have more regular visitors to my blog. I started posting regularly on it in December 2016 but it has been around since March 2015. The blog is called BookMattic.blogspot.com. As you can tell from the name it’s a book blog.

I hope you can help and if I have any other questions I’ll let you know.

    Regards,

These are all amazing points Donna! Especially this one:

“You see, the days of simply informing people are over.”

Before, it’s too easy to build a following around you just by throwing some information to your social media and target audience.

But today, people want confirmation, they want to engage, they want to be more connected, they want to talk.

And if you can’t provide them that in your blog post, you have lower chances of climbing up and getting into the hearts of your target audience.

And I’d have to say, given the choice, I’m definitely interested in

    Hi Donna,

I can testify that your content speaks to us! When you said “I can never do a video, no how, no way”….it feels like you were talking to me. I know I’m missing out by not doing videos and I get upset at myself because I can’t shake my fear of getting in front of the camera.

My biggest challenge is having the time to complete my daily tasks. My personal life pulls me in all kinds of directions – that’s just my new normal now so I have to make adjustments to my to-do list and leave things to do on the weekends. Hi Donna

A post clearing the basic concepts of blogging sucess.

What is the use of huge number of visitors who need everything for free. This is very popular mantra we can hear everywhere. I don’t agree with it.

The real marketer is one who first diagnosis the problems of people and then give them multiple solutions and finally suggest the best one This he can do if he has a well-built community not the crowd.

People will not share their problems with a marketer who does not engage them. Engagement is a broad term and covers everything that a marketer does to win the trust of his audience.

Many thanks for sharing this iconic post on blogging success model.

People who can team up and build community stay more motivated than others who expect everything happens fast. They often quit. Even people who had to pause like Monna, I think, she will find her place in the community again. Best is to work consistent ,slow but steady.

Right now I’m struggling to come up with topics, so I’ve neglected my blog.

I had a break when I had overseas visitors and since then motivation is lacking. I also looked around and saw what I’d been neglecting around the house and also realized I didn’t have a clue at what was happening around the world. Mind you, I’m fast going off reading news sites – too much of it is bad and sad!

I hope to get back into my blog soon but with a better work/life balance. I’ll try and concentrate on the “why” and “how” because, as you say, it’s hard to not duplicate information. Thanks Donna.

    Hi Donna,

Great post, as always. My biggest challenge in blogging right now is building my traffic flow again and getting on a schedule. A lot of time off line really makes a difference in everything you do.

I’m basically starting over but I see that as a good thing. I’m more focused now but still have some focus issues to work on.

Building a community? What do you think is the best way to do that? Forum, Facebook Fan Page, Facebook group?

Great to be back reading your posts again.

      Hi Monna,

When you’ve been out of the loop a while, “starting over” is a big challenge.

It’s good to see that you understand how essential it is to start by building a community.

That’s always the best place to start.

I don’t think, though, that there’s a “best” platform for building that community.

It depends on where your target audience hangs out.

That’s where you want to be.

    Hey Donna!

Love the post! I’m in the same boat as Sherman. I work a 40-hour work week, come home to family priorities, my side hustle, and 3 blogs. Finding time is my biggest challenge. I know I have too much going on but I have so much I want to share! The side hustle is almost a full-time job now, so seriously, when I say time is my biggest challenge, I mean it. However, most importantly, I make sure that I have an online presence. Sharing content, other’s content and networking. I neglect my blog content, which I can’t help, but I’m still out there engaging and building a community.

Focus is another challenge for me. I think partly because I have too many things going on. There isn’t just one thing at a time happening here. I’m sure sooner or later, I’ll burnt out and have to give up one or two things, but for now, as long as I growing my business and continue to networking with my community friends, I think I’ve got something going on.

    Thanks for sharing this!

Hi Donna. It has been far too long since my last visit. I enjoyed the list of things that you don’t have on your blog, like graphics and SEO. It proves that there is more than one way to build a successful blog. You go against all of the “conventional” wisdom yet here you are. Your strength is in engaging with your readers and it definitely works.

I read all of the comments so far and like just about everyone else I would say that my biggest blogging challenge is focus. My business isn’t my #1 concern everyday. I’m also a full-time stay-at-home dad and I homeschool my two kids. That’s my #1. Also my blog isn’t my primary business activity. It serves more as internal links to improve the SEO for my websites. It also serves as a creative outlet.

      Hi Ben,

So nice to see you here.

You, too, cut against the grain in the blogging world.

Most of the bloggers I coach are looking to build a profitable business, or market an existing business.

Very few are looking for a “creative outlet.”

But the common thread for just about every blogger is still that nagging struggle to stay focused.

I think that working in community, we do help each other along these lines, although in ways that are difficult to measure.

    Hey Donna,

Blogging is a set of multiple challenges at different set of times for different people. The journey is surely amusing, profitable, thrilling but never easy. One of the main reasons behind lack of motivation to write and maintain your blogging routine are wrong expectations.

We presume big returns too fast. These returns may involve readers, comments, feedback, traffic and even money. When you don’t see your efforts converting into these returns, lack of motivation creeps in. Coming up with new post ideas is one of the most common yet easiest to crack blogging challenges. Eventually, thanks for sharing your experience with us.

I’m a bit of a control freak when it comes to my blogs, so it’s hard to let go of that. Hi Ruth,

That’s another big challenge for bloggers.

You have to remember that content is really only 20% of your business as a blogger.

      Marketing is the other 80%.

Unfortunately, there are many great bloggers who turn it around and end up posting a lot of wonderful content that just doesn’t get seen.

      Results = Bad

Market more, publish less if you have to.

Or let go of some control and hire someone to help you market, or put some of the many marketing tools to use.

      Hi Chery,

You’re certainly not alone with having too much on your plate, and I’m guilty of this, too.

You just have to keep trying to practice discipline.

That means, stay on one track no matter what… if you can 🙂

For sure, the biggest challenge for most bloggers is the inability to focus on just one very simple process, and make it work.

Remember, you don’t need to make 100 things work… only ONE.

Then do it 100 times over, and over and over.

    Hey Donna,

Blogging is definitely a two-way conversation!

You publish information that your target audience want to read and also the both of your engage each other in the comment section.

Also this is a way to build a community since you’ll start seeing the same faces in your comment section. This is a great indicator that you’re doing something right.

I would say my biggest challenge is scheduling and staying focus. I do a 40+ work week and there are a lot others with similar schedules. I written a few posts on this subject but it would be great to see what others are doing!

Thanks for asking Donna! Have a great weekend!

      Hi Sherman,

It’s so interesting to me to see what a great job you do with your blog, even though you work a 40 hour job.

That’s quite an inspiration to the many, many bloggers I know who work at their blogging business only part time.

It’s a really common challenge, but not one that can’t be overcome.

Thanks for the boost to all bloggers who struggle with the ability to stay focused on their blogs even when they can’t devote as much time as they’d like to.

That’s really where building a community around you, like you’ve done, is so important.

    Hey Donna,
    Good to be here again.
I have tested traffic from many sources including Social media, List and SEO. To be quite frank, SEO traffic is the most profitable for money making bloggers like me. And yes, Getting and growing my SEO traffic is my challenge and truth is, your solutions you’ve suggested above can help:

In building an active community, I get to guest post and attrack backlinks and mentions from other blogs.

In building a team, I get to connect and collaborate with SEO experts in different areas and of course, there are excellent SEO apps in my team.

Talking about engagement, once in a time I ran a poll on my blog. That helped me narrow my content to what most of my readers want. Focusing on this targeted topics helps enlarge the number of longtail keywords driving traffic to my blog.

You see how your 3 amazingly simple solutions help me face my challenge?

Now waiting for the next post 😉

    Do have a wonderful weekend

      Hi Enstine,

As you point out, guest posting is a great way to immerse yourself in a team of pro bloggers who help you with content, share their own following with you and really do help your SEO.

I think SEO is one of the primary methods of driving traffic to your blog, so that’s really important to do.

There are many tools and apps for that, and yes… that’s another way of getting past that big challenge of attracting readers.

    Hi Donna,

As far as team building, Richard Branson is the dead on #1 example of a billionaire who has mastered this concept. All he does is dream business ideas then hires brilliant people who handle all types of aspects of his campaign. He does stuff too but he is the dreamer, and outsources so much to his ever growing team, it makes micro manager’s heads spin LOL.

I hire, or buy, or invest money or time in #1 and #2. Just shared posts from a travel blogging tribe I’m in. I submit guest posts to Blogging Tips daily, and to the Huffington Post regularly. I submit guesties to Matthew Loomis’ blog and Enstine Muki’s blog and Blogger Authority a few times monthly, Team work. Help people on different platforms. Leverage your presence. Have fun.

Big blogging challenges dissolve into your community, and into the team you hire and tools you use to help smooth your journey.

    Hey Donna,

In the blogging journey, people face any obstacles which make them stop. But a real blogger crosses all the barriers and face the challenges.

The biggest blogging challenge is to keep the consistency. Most of the bloggers give up because they don’t have the energy to provide the content on a regular interval of time.

I agree with Lis about focusing. It’s hard to keep your mind focused in between all the so called technical aspects.

    Thanks for this article.
    Enjoy your day.

      HI Ravi,

Being consistent is certainly a big challenge.

It’s one thing to “catch on fire” for a month or 2, but another to stay relevant and engaging week after week as a matter of course.

That’s how you run a business and, hey, that’s what your blog is 🙂

    Hi Donna,
I think my answer is to “stay focused” when writing content, turning off Twitter and FB and stop thinking of all the other tasks at hand. Just focus on the research and content to produce a new post – either on my own blog or as a contributor.
When I lose the focus then I lose the ideas and it becomes a snowpile from a snowflake 🙂
I’ve learned to have others do some tasks – I hire for the technical stuff. I used to spend hours trying to figure it out on my own. No more of that!
You are right too we cannot do it all on our own, I always said blogging is not meant to be on a island all by yourself, you have to connect with others and often!
I can’t wait to see what you come up Donna with after others tell you their biggest challenges!

      Hi Lisa,

So right about the importance of staying focused on the task before you.

Gotta keep on the blinders to all the other things for sure.

I like to organize my day so that I’m doing Project A for 2 hours, then Project B for 1 hour, etc. When I’m “on task A” I don’t think about “Task B” … or at least I try not to 🙂
