    Hi Donna,

    Awesome Post!

Millions of internet users swarm to social media and social networking sites every single hour. The buzz that social media and social networking sites create makes the buzz of a bee silent. These types of sites can help you to build up your blog traffic if you use it wisely.

You need to set up your profile so that you can target these internet users that maybe interested in your niche. You have to make your profile in a way which makes people want to follow you or be a member of your followers. Sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin and now Pinterest can deliver many many traffic to your blog.

    I will tweet your post.

    Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hi Donna. I’ve been on Viral Content Bee for about a year and was pleasantly surprised when I saw your Twitter chat proudly promoted on the front page a little while ago.

I’m curious though. I scanned through the summary and saw a lot of the same people that regularly share my posts from VCB. I’m beginning to think some of them are robots or multiple aliases for the same person. So, back to my curiosity. Have you seen any positive results from that chat?

What you’re doing is working. I do see you show up more in interviews and guest posts.

    Hey Donna,

First of all, congrats on doing your Twitter Chat.

I can only imagine how hectic a Twitter chat is. I’ve participated in one before and it was hectic. Questions coming in all over the place. Yikes.

But from the sounds and looks of it, you handled yourself beautifully and gave some superb advice to all that you were communicating with. So kudos to you for that. I’ve been interviewed a couple of times and it was certainly interesting. But you’re right — it does get you infront of a new audience. Looking forward to more in the future.

    Have a great day.

    HI, Donna.

Lots of great options for redistributing your content.

    Medium is another great option.
For curation sites, you might try Ladypens dot com or bizsugar dot com.

I think knowing your limits is key to preventing burnout.

Just like when you’re starting a new workout routine. Start slowly and gradually add more.

Myblogu is a great place to get collaborators for interviews and blog posts.

Amplify your guest blogging efforts with a blog tour. I first heard of this idea from Nicole Dean.

Guest post on 15 blogs over a 15 week period. (1 per week)

As you’re touring new audiences, grow your list.

You can do this by condensing all the posts into a PDF. (include the links to each of your guest’s posts so your hosts get continue traffic as well)

This benefits you and the host blogs as well.

To add onto that, you can offer an upgrade on the Download page to audio versions of the posts.

Thank you for all the great examples of growing a community around your blog.

Thanks for the cool mini course Donna!

You laid out some extremely workable plans coach. In fact, my head
is still spinning from all of the viable marketing options.

And as you pointed out, every potential strategy is not
    overly complicated.

And consistently implementing what you have
laid out, in such an extremely practical manner, over time, will most
    certainly yield, some bankable results.

This really could have been, a paid 90-120 minute webinar, along with a really
cool cheat sheet or two Coach!LOL!

And or, a paid 3-5 week mini course, where you demonstrate each strategy or two, a weekly
    90 minute webinar series.

Thanks for freely sharing such a potentially profitable blueprint!

Very useful post, as always, Donna. Specially like the bit about scheduling your social sharing. We use Hootsuite for our social scheduling, and it’s got some great features. Also, doing roundup posts is a great way to keep track of what’s going on in your industry, and you get to share some of your readers with people who have written interesting stuff. I love all the tips you gave in this post. Top Twitter Apps, Top sources of blog traffic, 6 blog posts – narrate them for a series of YouTube videos Even just a video using slides for a short time, I am thinking would be great.Guest posting, I had a look at what you say about posting on your site. Some ideas to put on my site about that. And having people include you in an ebook, interviewing and expert round-up posts, As a matter of fact, I am writing my article just now and I am linking an article of yours in it. So another method of getting yourself out there, other people’s articles. It all helps to find a new crowd.Great article.

I like to think I’m covering myself with the big 4 social media sites (4 if I could G+, 5 if I count YouTube), but I’m not always punctual in doing so. I’ve got Twitter down to a science and I’m not bad with most of my posting to LinkedIn (although I don’t post everything) but I’m a bit lax when it comes to the other sites. I’ve started using Buffer to help me keep up on some of these (I don’t use it for Twitter) but it’s kind of useless using it for G+ because it won’t always show the image you have in your blog post.

I also probably need to go back and share some of the items I’ve missed, at least within the last year. That wouldn’t hurt my presence any, that’s for sure.

      Hi Mitch,

It is difficult to be consistent on all social media sites. I like to narrow it down to where I get the most “action.” Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. I poke around sharing on other sites but it is always great to be consistent.

Good idea to go back and share some of the stuff you have missed within a year. I’m doing something like that too. I use this nifty free product called Lumen. I can make a less than one minute video like a teaser and then link it to an old blog.

      It’s working well.

    Hey Donna,

Doing guest posts, interviews, and roundup posts does give you a kick in traffic.

This is a strategy I used a few years ago and I made it to where I try to constantly be on other sites as well. With that said, you are definitely on point when it comes to branding.

You will consistently get new visitors to your blog. Some will be loyal followers while others may not, but the fact of the matter is you’re constantly putting yourself out there.

This will result in getting you into the “celebrity” status. A great example of this is when you were asked to be a guest on a twitter chat. People looked at you as the authority of setting up a coaching online business. When you’re on this status, you’re definitely doing something right when it comes to branding 😉

Thanks for sharing Donna! Have a great upcoming weekend!

I believe the recommendation that writing a post should take up 20% of the time and 80% promotion but that doesn’t mean just promoting the post itself but taking time to connect with people, and to build your brand in general. Hosting a twitter chat sounds an excellent way to do this. I’m concentrating more on Twitter lately and finding it easier to build up followers.

      Hi Atish,

If you want to meet new people, and tap into fresh new resources of traffic… you have to go away from your blog.

      Find people where they are.

Find them on social media, on other people’s blogs, on forums and Q&A sites.

Put your ideas in front of them in those places, not just on your blog.

When you just put content on your own blog and promote it… you’re going to have a hard time getting some new faces following you.

You tend to get the same crowd over and over on your own blog, if it’s good.

      That’s great.

But to expand your business, find ways to meet new folks wherever they are.

I can see the appeal of them as people often want to be in on the action so to speak. I think hangouts, zoom and appear.in rooms can all play a part in bringing your brand to more people. Hey Donna,

Putting your face (or your brand) out there is so important. True that.

For all the good that the Internet gives us, there’s just so many things to do. Days don’t seem to end now-a-days and I wish I was on a planet that had maybe 48 hrs instead of this measly 24 hours.

So, it’s time to do a little check

    — Blogging consistently. Done

    — SEO (Whatever I could do)

    — Guest blogging (here and there)

    — Social Media (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, StumbleUpon, Quora and Pinterest) Check

So that leaves me hanging there without much of a presence on Instagram, SnapChat

    — Building my list (multiple lists for multiple segments): Done

    — YouTube Channel: Done.

    — PPC: Been there and done that. Will do again, when I can.

As I type this, I can see there’s so much more to do 🙂

      Hi Ash,

I can see from your comment that we all need those 48 hour days. That is some list and looks like one of mine lol.

I used to drive myself crazy with my to-do list, but it only ended up in frustration.

Now I still have that list, but time it in small intervals. I don’t know how I get it all done, but I do give myself a few days to do it all and then Monday comes and I’m back at it again. It became a habit.

But you know what is the most important thing on my list? It is “me time” whereby I can spend an hour or two walking the beach nearby. Anything that the day has for me to enjoy is what gives me the energy to fulfill all those things I have to do.

I’ll be frank with you, Donna 🙂

There ain’t no beach where I am at. There’s also no scope for “me time” really. At least, I fool myself into believing that.

For a long time, even before I knew blogs existed, I wrote for others. It then just evolved to a point where I try to do a lot more than I can handle. Now, I’ve been focusing on doing it for myself. Yet, It’s exhausting, if you ask me.

Someone either give me 48 hours or I need a million dollars in cash 🙂

I’ll tell you this: I think we are up against impossible. Because we are online, we are also competing with the biggest of the people out there — the Seth Godins, The Tim Ferris’es

We are looking to get the attention of folks who are already sold on the biggies? Are we in a business we are too deep in, and we don’t want to believe?

I don’t know. You tell me.

          Hi Ash,

I know so many of us struggle to get the time to “do it all.”

The fact is, you don’t need to do it all.

You just need to set up a routine that is effective… effective to build your own little following.

Yes, the big guys that have been here “forever” have a great following, but guess what… lots of people following them are still struggling.

Get in front of their crowds with your unique abilities and services and products.

Get in front of them by guest posting, hash-tagging the “big guys”, including them in your articles etc.

You just need to get one little piece of the pie… your piece.

That’s what this post is all about… how to do just that.

If you’re overwhelmed, try cutting things OUT of your daily task list.

Focus only on one or 2 things that are most effective.

If none are, then find one or 2 new ones to try out.

When you finally get something that’s giving you some traction, stick with just that and nothing else.

There are millions of things you “can” do, but the trick is to put blinders on to all of them except the one or 2 that you will get really really really good at.

You don’t need followers from everywhere, only from somewhere.

            So, there you go Donna.

My wake up call just came in. I have this tendency to have a little too much on my plate. I started with nothing when I did so I don’t leave things to others. Let’s just say, I don’t trust them.

That brings me to, me. Ending up doing everything under the sun, missing out on the twilight years of blogging only to find myself competiting with just a few more million blogs than there were, a decade ago.

You are right. Do things, but focus on what seems to be working best. Of course, a few things like blogging and social have to be on schedule.

I see quora work great too, and I know you are there 🙂

For someone like me, who is solo, it is quite difficult to prioritise things. There are so many things to do from blog writing, commenting, social media, guest posting, and the list goes on. Sometimes 24 hrs seems less to me. Having said everything, this journey is amazing and I am enjoying it.

      Hi Rupesh,

It is difficult when doing things solo..I know I do it all the time. But the trick is to have your time mapped out. Know how much time you have in one day, then break it down to chunks of time. Always do the most important thing first, then give yourself 15 minutes here and there for social media, commenting and things like that.

      Indeed, the journey is amazing!

You have no idea how much you’ve helped me with this post Donna! I’ve recently been going back and forth on the question of whether our efforts should always be about “dragging” people to our blog. I fell pretty clearly on your side of the line until I read a couple of “expert” articles recently that came down strongly in the “always make it about sending them to your blog or don’t do it” camp. Just too many things going on behind the scenes at the moment (as evidenced by the fact I’m writing this at 1 AM) to think it through so I just stalled.

Your advice makes so much sense. In fact, it reminded me of a time last year when I was a guest speaker/tweeter in a Twitter chat about journaling for personal growth! It was a great experience and, like you, I made a lot of new contacts. Thanks for helping me find my way back. 🙂

I can tell you that I have met many people on social media that never went to my blog at all, but wanted to work online and didn’t know where to start. Many conversations lead to product purchases.

I know there is many things going on behind the scenes at the moment. Just breathe! 🙂

    Hello Donna,

Awesome insights here by your side 🙂

Congratulation for your twitter chat interview, hope it was a rocking one.

The extensive ways you discussed above here for putting ourselves in front of the new crowd are pretty cool.
Indeed it is a difficult task to present our self in from of a crowd we do not even know, what they like and
what they wish to read. It’s always challenging for any blogger to switch out for the new audiences.

I love the justretweets and viral content bee, their we can establish new relation with the new customers and
bloggers who are surely gonna help us in the long run.

I am looking forward to apply these tactics to get me going in the front of new crowd. That would be fun 🙂

    Thanks for the share.

    Shantanu.

      Hi Shantanu.

It is something that we all have to continue to be doing…getting in front of brand new people. Even if we work at it once a day to one person it will work. You know how viral things go lol.

The Twitter Chat was fun and I met people I never would have crossed paths with. This is how we stretch our reach organically. To me it’s the best way…meeting and greeting others.

Hi Donna, I wish I knew about your Twitter chat – I would have jumped in 🙂 I like your various ways of getting in front of new folks. I recently started using LinkedIn pulse after Ravi shared about it on my blog. I started to generate some traffic there and got new folks following my on LinkedIn with just 3 articles to date. It’s a great way to get in front of new folks!

I like Viral Content Bee, Just Retweet and Biz Sugar – I’m always learning of new bloggers at those places.

I’ve started doing some more guest posts this year and it’s a great way to atract new readers as well.

My bucket list is to start doing some videos this year and maybe head back to Google+ for a while.

I think as you mentioned you must stay focused on these tasks at hand to keep up with them all. No getting side tracked over at Facebook or Twitter 🙂
Thanks for sharing these great tips with us Donna! I hope you are not getting as much as rain as we are down here these past few days. Enjoy the rest of your week.

      Hi Lisa,

You know me and Twitter well, so I decided to focus more on that platform. In came someone who wanted to interview me on a twitter chat. Sure (but what the heck is a Twitter chat? I asked myself) With a little searching I got the low down.

The day came and it was so easy to do. I fully enjoyed it and met some new people. I like sharing my experience for others to step out of their comfort zones.

I am so glad you did some LinkedIn Pulse blogs. They bring in wonderful folks.

P.S. It only rains here at night when we are sleeping thank God. We are having beautiful days ….so far so good!

    Hi Donna,

Congrats on your Twitter chat interview, I am sure that it went awesome.

I still haven’t gotten involved with Twitter chats, instead I choose to focus on Guest posting, YouTube and Commenting. I know how important it is to be everywhere, but I prefer to focus on these 3 because I don’t want to spread myself too thin.

As a blogger, I do think that it’s important to be everywhere. That’s what I am trying to do. Like you said, that’s how you get people to your blog and we all know how important it is to continue finding a new audience.

The great thing is that as bloggers, we have several different methods that we can use to drive people to our blog. We can test out some of these strategies and see which ones actually work for our blog. We all know that not every technique is worth our time.

We have to test out different methods and see which one actually drives traffic to our blog. I may have to test out one of these methods. I love how you said you love taking some of your blog posts and “narrate them for a series of YouTube videos.”

I have a YouTube channel that I am growing and I haven’t done that yet. Thanks for this tip, I am going to start implementing it the next time I sit down to create a new YouTube video.

Quick question, do you just narrate it in front of the camera or do you use slides?

Thanks for these tips, have a great day 🙂

    Susan

      Hi Susan,

I was a guest on the Twitter Chat and there were several questions that the person asked me. I had to answer them all via typing in and using the hashtag of the chat. This worked two ways…the hash tag gave the organizer traffic and I met a whole bunch of new people.

I did agree to do this interview mainly because I wasn’t spending much of my time on Twitter. Sure..I shared posts that I was reading and set up things on Post Planner (which I use to automate) but not much.

I wanted to find the time to give to Twitter, but I was working heavily on two other social media platforms. This became a win win for all of us.

    Hi Donna,

Way to go! Loved all that you mentioned, which is so true 🙂

Twitter chats are interesting! Reminds me of my first one, years ago, when I was interviewed and had to talk about blogging and social media. It brought in a LOT of Twitter followers, as well as traffic to the blog, just as you mentioned. Yes, blog comments, interviews, guest posting, expert roundups – they all are the apt ways (tried and tested!) that DO work – nothing could be better.

Of course, there’s a lot more one has to do, but if one can manage to do even this little much, it sure increases your reach and brings you a different set of people to your blog. You interact with various people when you are on different social networking sites and social media, which is the reason we must tap each one of them. Just like LinkedIn or Facebook work for some and you’d find your followers there, you’d also find them on Twitter and maybe Pinterest. So, a little time on each sphere is good to try and test things.

Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week ahead 🙂

      Hi Harleena,

It was fun to do something new and that was the Twitter Chat. It did bring in some new people that I’m currently engaging with.

Indeed nothing could be better than that along with comments, interviews, roundups and guest posting because they really do work for us.

We have to put ourselves out there and get networking on social media. Even though I preach to focus on no more than two, still we have to be present on all others, but not as much as the two we choose.

    Hi Donna,

Thanks so much for the shout, the awesome affiliate marketing guest post and for all that you do. I was so happy to shout you out to my list.

If you will help folks out, tweet them, interview them and promote them, you will build a big network of loyal friends who will do the same for you.

As for finding new crowds I write 2 or more guest posts daily, I read and comment on a throng of blogs daily and I also contribute my insights on the Warrior Forum, Quora and various social media groups.

I record a Facebook Live and Periscope video daily. I usually record and upload a YouTube video weekly. I also record and publish a podcast to Sound Cloud and iTunes weekly.

Being all over means sharing your skills with the cyber world through a wide range of platforms.

You do this very, very well Donna. Both through this post and through your shining example.

    Thanks for sharing 🙂

      Hi Ryan,

It is amazing all you do in a day. But with discipline and persistence I’m sure you enjoy every minute of it and it comes easy for you. This is what people need to understand.

It takes work and persistence and patience in order to be recognized. People see you as an Authority because you worked for it. Plus you do have fun doing it.

“Enjoy your work so you won’t have to work a day in your life” – Forgot who said that 🙁
