I was thinking of an old school classic movie “Miracle on 34th Street.” When Santa started referring people with honesty and integrity to Gimbels to get certain toys, people were shocked. How can Macy’s make any money when Santa is sending them elsewhere? Easy, people are grateful when you supply a service. Isn’t that what we do in our Tribe?
Certainly. If someone comes to me with a tech question I cannot provide, I’ll send them over to Kim. If someone asks a question I can’t answer, I’ll find out from my tribe members and get back to him/her right away and send them to my buddy’s blog. It’s a win win situation.
Back in the stone age when I was selling metaphysical stuff in my shop… where I also did psychic readings… people might come by for a session when I was swamped. I would refer them to an associate if it were a pressing issue.
They’d look at me like a deer in the headlights. They always came back, though, because I wasn’t money hungry. I just wanted to provide the best service I could. When someone came in looking for a book I didn’t have on the shelf, I would send them to another store that carried it.
This built up a strong business because whatever I couldn’t provide, I would network to other people. When I took in a partner because of the overflow, people thought I was nuts. Why would I do such a thing? No one seemed to understand that we were not in competition, we were just building a bigger business.
Doesn’t that sound familiar to Tribing? I get the same feeling and am so blessed to have crossed this path of giving people. We are all on the same page of giving… which is the seed of receiving.
Tribing. Well, for me i take this as a real miracle thing on 34th street. I also wanted to have my own tribe too but i don’t know how.
