Find virtual assistant jobs

I’m going to show you how to find virtual assistant jobs and clients.

If you’re a blogger, this could be one of the best ways for you to use your experience and skills to start earning from your craft.

You can try to monetize your blog, of course.

But if that’s not working out too well for you, yet, then think of leveraging your blogging skills and experiences.

Running a virtual assistant business, or getting a virtual assistant side hustle is a great way to monetize, not so much your blog, but your blogging skills.

Virtual assistant side hustle for bloggers

Now, I’ve already given you some ideas about how to prepare yourself for being a virtual assistant.

Now, let me show you how to actually find virtual assistant jobs.

Construct Your Resume

People don’t know you.

So you need to construct a document that will give them a quick glimpse of who you are.

Tell them what your passion is, what you hope to do with your life, how you can help them operate their business and what your limits are.

They don’t know what you are capable of doing.

Standard resume

Use your resume to tell them.

Spell it out.

Use your resume to clearly define what relevant experience and skills you possess.

These are skills and experiences that they will value, and will want to add to their team.

Portfolio

People can’t actually see any of your work.

But you can create a portfolio to show them.

Use a portfolio to showcase videos you’ve created, or blog sites, images, emails, social media posts or whatever else you think will be important to let prospective hiring agents or clients know how valuable you can be to them.

Make a real connection

Whether you’ve going to be submitting your resume, portfolio or both, you need to spell out, highlight and showcase your relevant experience and skills.

And remember to use different versions of your resumes and portfolios, customized to the varying types of virtual assistant jobs you are targeting.

This will make you stand out from all those people who just construct a one-size fits all resume.

Find virtual assistant jobs

When it comes time to actually find virtual assistant jobs, you can start looking for platforms that you are most comfortable with.

Social media

Get things rolling by setting up your professional profile.

You can do this on X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram or other sites.

But undoubtedly, the best social media site for professionals and job hunters in just about any field, is LinkedIn.

In fact, that’s pretty much what sets LinkedIn apart from the other big social media platforms.

It’s important to set up your profile on LinkedIn.

Don’t overthink this, though.

Simply introduce yourself and outline your relevant skills and experiences.

Use relevant keywords and experience to get the attention of companies and individuals seeking out someone with your particular skills, training and background..

Describe what sets you apart from other virtual assistants, and clarify how you can help potential clients.

And don’t forget to invite people to connect with you for a conversation, or to get more information about you.

Freelance websites

Sign up on platforms like Upwork, Fiverr, Freelancer, Behance, SimplyHired and Flexjobs.

Upwork and Fiverr are the most popular sites for finding virtual assistant jobs.

Develop your profile on one or more of these websites, and then start contacting hiring agents and companies or individuals that look like interesting prospects.

Job boards

Job boards are online platforms where employers post job openings.

They are good places to find virtual assistant jobs.

You can search out job opportunities by keywords search.

Use a keyword like “virtual assistant,” but don’t overlook keywords related to your special skills.

So maybe you’d search for “bookkeeping,” or “customer service” in addition to “virtual assistant,”

This will help focus on precisely those opportunities that match your interests and skills.

When you find something that seems like a good match,  go ahead and apply for that position.

Job boards are a good marketplace for connecting employers looking for employees or freelancers with candidates seeking specific opportunities.

They are used by a wide range of industries in various sectors.

You will find that the jobs and roles are often defined by levels of experience, but don’t be afraid to apply even if you have no experience.

If you can make a compelling case for your life experiences and specific training being relevant, you stand a chance to get noticed.

And don’t forget to focus on “remote” jobs if you intend to work from home, or build a virtual assistant business with multiple clients.

You can find virtual assistant jobs on job boards like Indeed, FlexJobs, and LinkedIn.

Notice that LinkedIn is a social media platform that also has a robust job board.

And a very popular one for you to turn to in order to find virtual assistant jobs.

Self Promotion

Besides looking around to see who is offering jobs and side hustle gigs, you should engage in a purposeful campaign of self promotion.

Social media networking

Setting up social media profiles on LinkedIn and others is a good start.

But being involved and engaged on those platforms is what really gives your campaign some pop.

Get to know people.

Blogging professional networking

Grow a network of peers and prospective employers.

It’s a good idea to join LinkedIn groups related to your special areas of interest, or even just some generic groups where other virtual assistants gather.

But more than joining, get active.

Talk to people about what they do and about your interests.

Ask questions, but also give advice revolving around what you do and how you do it.

In this way, you can start building a network of people around you to interact with.

In time, you might ask them for recommendations or even jobs.

You can also do this on X, Facebook and others.

Websites Social Media websites

Consider creating a simple website or even just a single-page landing page to share your talents and experiences and showcase your services and portfolio.

Either one can be used to list your talents, broadcast your experience, flaunt your social media followings and so forth.

It can be used like a mini resume or portfolio.

To make an even bigger splash, use your blog to show off.

If you don’t have a blog, this would be a great time to start one.

When you write articles, you get to show prospects what your special knowledge or experience  is.

You can show what kind of a leader, team player or employee you could be as a virtual assistant.

Embed your videos, graphics or charts to underscore your expertise.

After you’ve published your blog post, link to it on social media sites to attract friends, clients, prospects and industry peers.

Include some relevant links in your portfolio, resume or even cover letter when you apply to a job on Indeed or anyplace else.

If you don’t want to “start a blog,” just publish your blog posts on bigger platforms like LinkedIn.

Did you know you can post articles on LinkedIn.

What a great way to impress people with your abilities and thought leadership.

The cool thing about blogging Donna is that it serves as a showcase for your personal assistant skills. As you noted, now is a good time to start if one hasn’t because it proves that you know your stuff. What better way to gain credibility than by writing and publishing detailed, thorough, targeted content? Blogs are fabulous resumes in and of themselves for some jobs but of course, updating your traditional resume makes sense, too.

      HI Ryan

I like the idea that your blog is really a resume.

And it evolves over time as you keep posting content.

Makes it like a living document… a living resume.

What better way to let people see what you’re about.

        Hi Lisa

        Nice to hear from you.

A digital resume is absolutely essential to working from home in any capacity.

And if your daughter-in-law can create a portfolio with videos, images and links to things she’s done, that’s a great complement to the resume.

That’s especially true for a Virtual Assistant who won’t even be on the job in a physical way.

With a portfolio, people get a chance to see her as a real person, and she can showcase her greatest skills in a real way.

        Good luck!
