I have taken many classes, joined many groups, taken so many “masters in internet marketing and social media” advice. I have applied some internet marketing strategies, and some I have not.
In this post, I want to share with you what works for me.
I am not a PPC or PPV kind of gal. In my heart and soul I prefer Social Media. To be an internet marketer we do need numbers in our sales funnel. But what kind of numbers are we really getting? If you have large numbers in your funnel, do you really know who these people are?
It is my experience that Social media marketing is just that – Social!
As I’ve said before in other articles I’ve posted, I am picky about who comes into my downline. However, when people do come in, I want to get to know each and every one of them to the best of my ability. This means going the extra mile. Going to their blogs and commenting and syndicating them. Commenting on Facebook, etc.
The following video will explain what has been really working for me. Doors are opening up everywhere and I just wanted to share my own internet marketing experience with you.
I appreciate you leaving a comment. I will gladly reciprocate by going to your blog and offering my feedback. Or just share it with your Facebook.
Thanks for stopping by!

Hello Donna,
I know I have not been around much lately, actually I have been around but super busy but it is so great to get back on your blog.
I love your content and couldn’t agree that quality is always going to beat out quantity.
It people realized that network marketing was never about how many people you sponsor but how many people you help to attain their goals.
Width is for show and depth is for dough.
Have a spectacular week!

Hey Donna,
I don’t find myself drawn to ppc either and don’t know if I ever will be, who knows. Social Media Marketing definitely grabs my interest a lot more.
It’s so cool how the simplest of things can bring the best results. Complicated isn’t fun; not to me anyway!

Donna, I love the post it sure resonates with me! I got a kind of lost in last few months in Shiny Objects, and now I am back to my roots and working on cleaning up my sites and blogs. It such an encouragement to take on step at time.

Aloha Donna,
I just wrote to you on my blog! So funny and yet we know how it all works Please read my response okay?
I loved what you said in this blog post and in your video. It’s all about quality. I, myself, have made that mistake back in the 90s. I got skilled, however, I lost the relationships! So, I 100% agree with you on this one. It’s the quality of the relationship and trust.
Thank you for sharing! And thank you for being you! Somehow I believe there is more to our relationship than we may be seeing! Very interesting… 🙂
Much love & aloha,

Hi Donna,
I loved how open and candid you were in this video.
There are so many things we can automate these days but building relationships isn’t one of them! You’ve done extremely well with putting genuine efforts into building rapport with smaller numbers. This definitely works well and as you said, it’s about the referrals and reciprocity. It’s incredible how easy it is to create an almost instant trusted relationship with someone when they were referred by a friend.
Just this week I was approached about a new skype software program that allows you to add hundreds of people at once. I remember thinking to myself that since I can’t possibly build relationships with several hundred people individually on skype at once, why would I want an automatic program that just added strangers to my account!
Remembering the ‘social’ in social networking is what it’s all about.

Hi Michaele,
I hear you on the skype thing! I do, however use an automated Youtube program, but I don’t accept friendships unless I check them out first.
Thanks for your encouraging words,

Donna – You are so awesome and I love your videos. I am glad to hear what is working for you as far as online marketing goes because lately I have noticed that i don’t have time “for it all” and may need to concentrate on one thing instead of dabbling in so many things. I know you are right that building true relationships are the key to success! You inspire me to concentrate on those things that really matter:) Thank you

Donna,
I have been trying to improve my Social Marketing skills. I appreciate you sharing your strategies with us. I will put them to use. I fell into the numbers game and I don’t know hardly any of my Facebook or Twitter friends.
Thanks Again,

Donna,
Thanks for sharing your experience with us. There is SO much online marketing info out there that it’s really hard to determine which one is the most effective.
As of now I have not delved into the PPC, etc. types of marketing. For some reason it just doesn’t resonate with me and so I haven’t explored it. Having come from an off line marketing back ground it was always about building relationships with people. They have to know you, like you, and trust you before they do business with you. Social media marketing ties in so closely that it was natural to market this way for me too.
I appreciate the insight you have shared.

I’m with you my friend. I’m just not ready for PPC. Questioning PPV, but still not at that level yet. That is a road David is taken, To me this comes more naturally. Thanks for stopping by,

Hey Donna,
Love this post. Based on what you share I would say I am a social media marketer also. You just pointed out a great strategy for marketing that is you get to the warm market of the cold market (the referral). Thanks for sharing with us all.
Make it a great day!

Donna, I totally resonate with what you are saying here. I prefer to have quality relationships where I gain from the experience of getting to know my friends, rather than have quantity. At the end of the day what are we working for? Many chase the gold at the end of the rainbow, and miss the journey along the way. I value my family and friends and the fun we have together far more than material “things”. Together we make a difference, divided we fall.
.-= Wendy MacKay´s last blog ..Releasing Anger to Embrace Love =-.
You are right on the money Wendy. And this applies to our business “friends” also. We want to bring in people that “share the love” as they say. This is why we call them friends. We share and care for one another, learn from one another and do business with one another. There is no other way I would have it.
blessings,
Donna
Donna, you make it look very easy, which can be a little overwhelming for the novice. Many can learn much from you, and would recommend them all here, for guidance and direction you can give in the social media scene.

Hi Donna,
At the end of the day, the relationships you build with others will carry you far. When we read these ads about getting hundreds of leads a day, or recruiting hundreds of people into the business, any intelligent person has to ask, “Okay, how many of those people do you really know? How many of those people are you personally helping to win? And how many of those people are you creating trust with?”
There is something to be said for quality. I would rather have a few pieces of incredible furniture that stand the test of time than a house filled with junk.
The same can be said for my business.
Thanks for this great comment about quality vs. quantity! You are definitely in the quality column! 🙂

Hi Donna,
I’m with you and Val! I love connecting with people for the sake of connecting and being open to hearing about their ideas. The people that do well with social media are the ones that tend to forget about the numbers/sales and as you said, focus on the social part of it.
Janette
Wow Janette we are all on the same page here. It is an incredible thing that happens when minds merge. I believe that numbers and sales are things that hold you back. If you focus on your needs aka your goals it will come to pass.
When we focus on the social part of it, we know we are making great connections. It may take more time, but I feel comfortable making solid connections.
Thanks for stopping by Janette

Donna,
I totally agree with you on this. It’s so much better to connect with people instead of using other avenues.
I love hearing someone’s ideas and thoughts because it enriches my experiences to meet such great people.
Keep on doing exactly what you’re doing! I look forward to hearing more about your book.

Donna, I like your thinking about social media. I think we may have similar ideas about this area.
I also like to get to know the people I am linking with. For me getting to know people is as important as doing business with people. I write because I love it – anything else is a bonus.
Would love to get to know you better too and found it interesting reading about you. Thanks for sharing

It is something to think about for sure. You are very effective with your focus on “quality” – I have felt it immediately upon connecting with you about 2 weeks ago. And this video confirms that your experiences are validating the one-to-one approach you are using.
As I say something to think. Many of the “big guys” talk about social media, but they also put a lot of stock in “putting things on auto pilot.” I can see that if a flood of subscribers develops, it becomes hard to maintain the “quality” type of connections you are used to. I wonder what will happen then?
Thanks for this thoughtful nudge to consider the “quality” approach.
.-= Richard Goutal´s last blog ..Sprucing Up My Facebook Page Add a Welcome Page =-.
Hi Richard, If the flood gates open, I’ll have to clone myself lol! Actually I do have a back up plan for that. It is coming into being as we speak. Interns from Cornell University. They can take over what I need to do and I can still connect to people. As it grows, it works. If I ever blast off, I’ll need to do seminars more often. Sound like a plan?
