Without creating content that sells, you won’t last for long in the competitive online world.
That being said, here are the 5 top hacks you can use to create extremely engaging
content.
This smarter content can help you to make sales in 2019.
#1. Create the right type of blog content
If you’re struggling to increase your traffic and website sales, you should probably rethink your content marketing strategy.
If your content creation strategy isn’t giving you the results you desire, you must act upon it.
Start to create the right type of blog content that sells.
Here are a few types of content that will work well in most industries in 2019.
● Case studies around the popular topics and common problems your target audience
face
● Webinars with experts in your niche to provide useful information and also to grow
your email list
● Infographics around popular topics (you can also use Buzzsumo for trending topics)
● Video tutorials
● Interviews with experts and influencers in your industry
The right type of content is not only effective but also most difficult to create.
Just have a look at the following illustration to know more about it.
From the above illustration, you can see that, case studies, videos and infographics are most effective, although they are also the most difficult to create.
So if you’re focusing on case studies, videos or infographics, you’ll be generating more sales through your content.
Above all, know your audience well before you create content.
Define your target audience
Define your target audience by asking the right questions such as:
● Who’s my target audience
● What are their demographics
● What’s their age, job, average yearly income
● What are their biggest challenges and so on
You can also use your email lists or conduct quizzes or surveys from your social media
profiles or website to find out what your target audience truly wants.
Based on their interests, you can create a long term content marketing strategy to generate more leads and sales.
#2. Write genuine product reviews and prepare for holiday seasons
One of the simplest ways to create blog content that sells is to focus on promoting affiliate products by writing product reviews.
Your product reviews should be unbiased, genuine and really helpful for your audience instead of selling hard.
When you’re creating a product review, make sure to keep the following things in mind to increase sales easily from your website.
● Before you write any product review, make sure to try it out first so that you’ll know
what are all the pros and cons that come with the product. Talk about the benefits,
drawbacks, pricing and also discuss better alternatives to the products you’re
promoting.
● Always give priority to writing comparison posts and compare two similar products.
Talk about all the pros and cons along with your product recommendations. You can
use tables and review boxes to make your comparison product reviews more compelling.
Make sure to prepare for holiday seasons like black Friday, cyber Monday and so on.
Most online companies provide massive discounts to attract new customers to try their products or services.

Here are few quick tips to prepare for holiday seasons to make more sales with your content as we head into 2019.
● Create deal pages around all the affiliate products you promote. You can do a quick
search on Google to find out all the black Friday, cyber Monday deals so you can
quickly build a list of content ideas that you can use to make more sales.
● Make sure to perform a thorough keyword research around the product reviews that
you are going to create during holiday season by coming up with one primary
keyword and several secondary keyword ideas to rank well in search engines like
Google.
● Create a link building strategy to build links to your product reviews that will go live
during the holiday season because backlinks play a key role in getting higher search
engine rankings. You can use tactics like guest posting, blogger outreach, broken link
building etc to quickly build quality links to your content.
● Set aside quality time during holiday seasons like black Friday week to quickly update
your “already created product review and deal posts” with all the details. Use
strong calls to action to persuade your audience to take immediate action.
#3. Set goals with every blog post you create
Most bloggers don’t set goals.
They always look for short term results and if they don’t get enough traffic or sales to their blog, they eventually quit without focusing on the long term goals.
From now on, if you want to create smarter content that sells, set goals with every blog post you create.
Use an editorial calendar to schedule your blog posts well in advance and focus on being consistent rather than focusing on quick results.
Here are a few questions you might want to ask yourself before publishing another blog post.
● Do I need more email subscribers with this post? If yes, make sure to use content
upgrades and email opt-in forms all over the post to attract more signups.
● Am I looking to get more search traffic with this post? If yes, do proper keyword
research and optimize your content for various keywords to attract more search
traffic.
● Do I want to use this post to increase sales? If yes, focus on using commercial intent
keywords so you can attract highly qualified “buyer oriented” visitors from search
engines to boost your sales.
● Do I need more social shares and comments? If yes, focus on creating engaging
content by creating catchy headlines and promote as much as you can on social
media and forums.
● Am I looking to gain more backlinks with this post? If yes, create 10 times better
content than your competitors and use strategies like blogger outreach, skyscraper
technique, broken link building etc to attract links.
#4. Optimize your blog content properly
One of the easiest and most effective ways to create content that attracts search traffic and sales is to optimize for both search engines and your target audience.
Write for people but make sure NOT to ignore search engines like Google.
After all, search engine traffic is the most qualified traffic source that sends to your site, potential visitors who are ready to buy stuff from you.
Here are a few quick tips to optimize your content well.
● Always perform keyword research before you write a post. Make sure to include your
primary keyword in title, meta description, URL, image alt tags and include in sub
headings like h2, h3 and so on.
● While creating content, don’t focus on any keywords. Create content as if someone’s
sitting in front of you. Write like you talk if you want to include a friendly writing tone that actually
converts online.
Avoid jargon while creating content. Make your content extremely easy to digest by your audience.
As a rule of thumb, even a 3rd grade student should understand what your content is all about.
● Come up with a list of LSI keyword ideas that are highly relevant to the primary
keyword that you want to rank for. Instead of keyword stuffing, you can use these LSI
keywords within your content to naturally rank well for multiple keywords.
● Make sure to include a FAQ section by answering the questions your target audience has.
That way you will satisfy both your audience and search engines (as you’ll also get
rich snippets if you find and target the right questions with your content).

#5. Tap into human emotions to create profitable blog content
If you can create content that triggers your audience’s emotions, you can easily attract a lot of buzz online.
And in this way, you can easily turn your blog into a profitable online space.
From there, you can sell almost any product or service you like.
Triggering the emotions of your audience with your content isn’t easy.
It takes time, consistent efforts and lots of practice.
But when you get the idea about what type of content triggers human emotions, it gets easier.
Have a look at the below illustration to understand various emotions that persuade online people to take action.
As you can see from the above illustration by Statista, you’ll observe that you can use the following emotions to create content that easily goes viral online.
● Surprise (you can cover the shocking and surprising facts or things in your industry
such as “the surprising thing about losing weight”).
● Anger (this type of content triggers anger among online people where you can talk
about controversial topics in your niche such as “how online shopping could destroy the traditional world economy).
● Joy (which triggers happiness).
● Awe (again this type of content is similar to surprise… things that make your audience
awestruck)
● Laughter (content that makes your audience laugh is always effective).
● Sadness (these are the things that make your audience sad, such as “5 million people
are dying with cancer each year”).
● Empathy (triggers the capacity to understand or feel what another person is
experiencing from their point of view. For instance, “Artificial intelligence needs empathy to work” or “Vegans and Vegetarians Empathize With Animals More Than Meat-Eaters”).
● Amusement (this makes your content a pleasure to read).
Make sure to explore the psychological behavior of your audience.
Get to know their wants and needs, along with their pain points.
This helps you to see what type of content works best for you.
In a nutshell, to create profitable blog content that sells, that actually makes money for you in 2019, you need to persuade your audience by triggering their emotions.

Anil, this is wonderful. #3 alone could b its own, standalone article.
We tend to publish post after post simply to fill a quota; simply to keep the blog active this week. This is short-term thinking, in other words.
But as you said: Ask yourself why you’re publishing *other than* filling a quota. Once you develop a plan, im sure your success will slowly improve.

Hi Anil & Donna,
What moe shall I say? You said it all, bringing out remarkable points that will benefit your readers. I like that you talked about defining your target audience. In fact, that’s one of the best ways to create content that sells, because if you can pinpoint buyer persona, that way, you can conveniently tailor your content to their needs and make them buy from you. Effectively, it all depends on the value you are bringing to the table via the content yiu create.
Wow! I really appreciate the fact that you have written on the topic and made it so clear, it is a different topic and very fewer people can write in a manner that everything gets clear. Also, I love the layout of your page and the images used are very attractive. Also, I would like to share that I learned amazing tips and tricks in a Digital marketing course by Digital Marketing field.
Great post! About smart blogging and content creation.
Thnak you so much.

Tapping into human emotions makes your content POP Anil. I dig your tips buddy.
Lifeless posts inspire few if any folks. But packing raw emotion into your posts through stories, smart, genuine copy and by being authentic in all you do makes you stand out like a lighthouse in a big storm. People love genuine bloggers who sell stories, so those story tellers prosper mightily.

Hi Ryan, glad to see you around here. Agree that, emotions play a key role in creating “valuable content” that sells itself. Most people don’t focus on social triggers or emotions while creating content and that’s why they struggle with traffic, engagement and sales.
Telling stories with your content (Copyblogger is the best example) can take your blog to the next level and yes, it’s bit hard to get used to creating such content but it’s worth your time.
Thanks for the comment Ryan, keep rocking.

Hi Anil,
It is good to see you here also.
Selling is all about connecting with the people. When your product or service connect with the needs of the people, you sell the product like hot cakes. It is really necessary that you should understand your target audience and offer the same product they are looking for.
You will learn this by doing research, using analytics, keeping an eye on user behavior on your blog or website.
Glad you have shared these tips.

Hello Gaurav Kumar,
Glad to see you here, I agree with what you said “selling is all about connecting with the people”. You can’t sell online without building trust first as most of the people who buy online are skeptical and that’s the reason why having your own blog helps you create better content that builds trust with your audience.
